Alfred, Thomas and Hodge Headline Monaco Women's 200m Showdown

The women's 200m at the Monaco Diamond League has stacked itself into one of the most anticipated half-lap races of the year. Julien Alfred, the Paris 2024 Olympic 100m champion, will meet Gabby Thomas, the Paris 2024 Olympic 200m champion. Adaejah Hodge, the 2026 world leader, is also confirmed to be on the start list and with that the Meeting Herculis on July 10 has become the meeting the sprint calendar circles.Thomas won the 200m at the 2024 Olympics in 21.83 and left Paris with two other golds - in the 4x100m and 4x400m relays. She has a bronze from Tokyo 2020 in the 200m, silver from the 2023 World Championships in 21.81, behind Shericka Jackson, and a 21.60 personal best that is the second-fastest 200m by an American.Alfred won the Paris 2024 Olympic 100m in 10.72 seconds - Saint Lucia's first Olympic medal in any sport at any Games. She finished second to Thomas in the 200m final that same week, running 22.08 seconds. Her medal tally also includes a bronze from the 2025 World Championships and gold in the 60m from the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships. Her personal best over the half-lap distance is 21.71 and for context she opened up her season in April at the Texas Invitational in 21.86, while Thomas currently holds a season's best of 21.70, which she ran just a few weeks ago.Taking up one of the other lanes is Hodge and she has done (in three months) what most sprinters may never do. In March, she won the 2026 NCAA Indoor 200m title. On June 11, in the 100m preliminaries at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, she ran 10.63 - breaking Sha'Carri Richardson's 2019 collegiate record. Two days later, she ran 21.68 in the 200m final to take the world lead, the collegiate record and tie for the eighth-fastest 200m ever run by a woman. As for the other athletes in the field, Cambrea Sturgis holds a 21.93 personal best. Kayla White brings 22.07, while France's Gémima Joseph will run in front of a home European crowd. She currently holds a 22.57 personal best and a field this fast is exactly the kind of race that lowers times. This is a show you will not want to miss.
