Vangelov's runner-up finish in a 2021 Olympic Qualification Tournament qualified his home country of Bulgaria for a 57 kg Men's Freestyle spot in the Tokyo Olympics. Vangelov has been competing on the senior level since 2012 and this will be his first Olympic appearance.
