Bryce Andonian's Highlight Moves | Technique Tuesday
Jul 7, 2026
In this week's Technique Tuesday, three-time All-American Bryce Andonian — one of the most exciting wrestlers to ever step on the mat for Virginia Tech — breaks down highlight moves from neutral, top, and bottom, all built on a single idea: make your opponent overcommit, then punish it.
From neutral, it's a whizzer throw off single-leg defense: pinch hard, keep your hand high, and stay mirrored until he gets impatient, comes to his feet, and is forced to reach across — then Bryce catches the over-hook and inside tie, grabs high on the tricep and armpit, and throws him with a "giddy up" step and a hard back-leg kick. On top, a high-risk turn built for short time on the clock: sag your weight to one side so he has to post everything onto one hand, then jump to a cradle into a wrist lock and drive over his knee. And from bottom, the Granby — frustrate him into a second mat return, defend in the air so you're never slammed, hide the foot you plan to post, and pop it at the last second to roll fast and turn into him for the escape. Every one of these is baited, not stumbled into.
