The 2026 season is finally here! As the action ramps up in D2 football across the country, the Emory & Henry vs Valdosta State get the action going on Aug. 27.

Both teams head in to the D2 season looking to continue off a winning campaign in 2025. The Emory & Henry enter in after a 8-3 season while the Valdosta State enters in with a 6-5 finish at the end of last season.
These two teams are both power houses in their respective conference of the Gulf South and the South Atlantic. In the preseason honors, Valdosta State landed six players on the Pre-Season GSC team. In the SAC, Emory & Henry is slated to finish fifth in the conference according to the pre-season poll.
Both teams are slated to return their quarterback in the 2026 season. Wasps quarterback Cole Lambert is back at the helm of Emory & Henry. The now senior ended his 2025 campaign with 13 touchdowns and 1568 yards on the season.
For Valdosta State Jameson Holcomb will be receiving the snaps. In the 2025 campaign, the quarterback competed in nine games for the Blazers. Holcomb ended the season with 1539 yards and 12 touchdowns.
On the offensive side of the football, these two teams are evenly matched. Emory & Henry posted roughly 39.1 points per game in 2025 while Valdosta posted 29.94 points.
Both teams also post a fourth down completion percentage that impressive. The Wasps are 71% on completion while the Blazers are 50%. Both teams are in the positive and it truly will be an offensive brawl for each squad.
Valdosta State and Emory & Henry are set to kickoff at 7PM ET on Aug. 27.
