San Juan Capistrano, California will once again host The Ten, one of the premier distance meets in the country, known for producing fast times and record-breaking performances.

This year, all eyes are on Shelby Houlihan as she sets her sights on the American Record in the 10,000m.

The current American Record stands at 30:03.82, set by Alicia Monson at The Ten in 2023. Shelby Houlihan will open her outdoor season in her 10k debut, aiming to take down Monson’s mark.

Audiences can watch The Ten LIVE on FloTrack.

Houlihan is no stranger to American Records. She currently holds the 1500m American Record (3:54.99) and previously held the 5,000m record (14:23.92) before Monson broke it. That former record now serves as her seed time for Saturday’s race.

After returning to competition in 2024 following a suspension, Houlihan has quickly reestablished herself as one of the top American distance runners. At the 2025 USATF Outdoor Champs, she won the 5,000m to qualify for the World Championships in Tokyo, where she placed fourth.

After major success in the shorter events, she will turn her focus to a new distance and a potential place in the record books. In order to find success in this new distance, she will lean on veterans in the event, such as Jessica McClain.

McClain is coming off a dramatic finish at the US Half Marathon Championship, where a course misdirection impacted her first place position. With a new ruling by World Athletics, her spot was secured at the World Championships in Copenhagen. In the meantime, McClain will shift to the track to use The Ten as a tune-up ahead of the championships in September.

While known for her strengths on the road, McClain has proven to be a fair competitor on the track. At last year’s edition of The Ten, she placed seventh in 30:59.71, and later went on to finish fifth at the USA Championships.

On The Men's Side Of The Ten

No records have been publicly announced to watch on the men’s side, the field is loaded with talent.

Two-time Olympian, Woody Kincaid headlines the men’s race after his consistent performances in the 10,000m. A first place finish at both the 2021 USA Olympic Trials and 2023 USA Championships, Kincaid has proven himself as one of the top American distance runners.

A second place finish at the 2024 USA Olympic Trials, earned a spot on his second Olympic Team. Both appearances were alongside current 10,000m American Record holder Grant Fisher. Fisher set the record at the 2022 meeting of The Ten in 26:33.84.

San Juan Capistrano has already proved to be a lucky spot for Kincaid, after earning a best time of 26:57.57. He now enters as one of the top seeds ready to put down a dominant performance.

Joining Kincaid on the line will be Stanford distance star, Ky Robinson, taking on his first professional 10k.

At the collegiate level, Robinson was a dominant distance runner with two NCAA Titles from the 5k/10k at the 2023 NCAA Championship.

After competing for a top level collegiate program, Robinson competed for his home country of Australia at the 2025 Indoor and Outdoor World Championships. At the 2025 World Indoor Championships he earned bronze in the 3,000m, finishing only one second behind Norway’s Jakob Ingebrigtsen. At the Outdoor Championships, Robinson finished just shy of a medal in fourth in the 5,000m.

The recent college graduate has shown extraordinary promise to compete with the group of seasoned professionals at The Ten.

The Ten is home to the current Australian record set by Jack Rayner from 2022 in 27:15.35.
