UTPB Stuns No. 6 Central Oklahoma, 34-14 -- Kanon Gibson's Huge Debut
UTPB shocks No. 6 Central Oklahoma 34-14 in Midland — Kanon Gibson’s dual-threat debut and Tristan Exline’s defensive heroics fuel a Week 0 D2 upset.

Kanon Gibson dazzled in his debut (17-30, 2 TDs, 91 rush yards) while linebacker Tristan Exline paced the defense with nine tackles and an interception.
UTPB’s offense stayed explosive and opportunistic, and UCO never found a consistent rhythm.
UTPB kicks off the season with a statement win over a Top 25 team, and could very well make their way into the D2 rankings in the coming week.

The UT Permian Basin Falcons start the year by securing a win against a Top 10 powerhouse in No. 6 Central Oklahoma.
Kanon Gibson, a West Texas A&M transfer QB, had a massive game. Gibson went 17-30 with two passing touchdowns. He also ran for 91 yards.
On the other side of the ball, Tristan Exline came up big, as the linebacker recorded 9 tackles, 1 TFL, and an interception which he ran back 15 yards.
For UCO, the offense never really got cooking, and were only able to muster 14 points against the UTPB defense.
