Central Washington kicked off the 2025 D2 football season in dominant fashion, powering past Colorado Mesa 41-14 in a game dubbed the Rodeo Bowl at Tomlinson Stadium in Ellensburg, Washington

After a slow first half, quarterback Kennedy McGill ignited the offense with over 300 total yards and two touchdowns. 

The Wildcats piled on 34 points in the second and third quarters, while their defense added a pick-six. 

Mesa showed flashes but couldn’t keep up. CWU opens the season 1-0 in emphatic style.

Despite a lukewarm first half, the Central Washington Wildcats dominated the second half. Kennedy McGill and the Wildcat offense fell into place as CWU scored 34 points in the second and third quarters. 

Colorado Mesa was able to score 14 points in the second half, but was unable to keep up with CWU as they started to pour on the touchdowns. 

Central Washington looks solid to start the season, and they will take the first win for any team of the D2 football campaign.
