Bahrain’s Salwa Eid Naser, the 2019 400m world champion and the third-fastest woman of all-time, has been provisionally suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) for whereabouts failures.

A whereabouts failure constitutes a filling failure and/or a missed drug test, with three such failures in a 12 month span being an anti-doping violation. Athletes face a two-year ban if found to be at fault.

Naser ran 48.14 in the 2019 World Championships final last October in the fastest women’s 400m performance in over 30 years.
