South Carolina State football coach Chennis Berry had just watched his team crush Morgan State by 41 points. Naturally, he decided it was time to talk about killing flies.
"It's not the fly you just killed, it's about the other flies that's watching," Berry told his players during his postgame speech.

Berry was delivering a warning to the rest of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) after No. 22 South Carolina State dismantled Morgan State 51-10 on Thursday, Oct. 29, in Baltimore.
The defending conference champions improved to 7-2, extended their MEAC winning streak to 12 games and left Morgan State with an especially embarrassing statistic: minus-12 rushing yards.
You Outrushed Morgan State Last Night

You could have spent Thursday evening motionless on your couch, eating chips and watching football, and still finished with more rushing yards than Morgan State.
The Bears ran the ball 14 times and somehow finished with minus-12 yards.
South Carolina State's defense recorded four sacks, surrendered just 150 total yards and didn't allow a single offensive touchdown.
For a brief stretch, Morgan State actually threatened to make things interesting.
The Bears erased most of an early 14-0 deficit, cutting the score to 14-10 midway through the second quarter.
Then Keely Watson spoiled the comeback attempt.
The Bulldogs' quarterback found Troy Hillman for a 20-yard touchdown as the first-half clock expired, giving South Carolina State a 21-10 advantage.
Morgan State never scored again.
The Bulldogs poured on 30 unanswered second-half points, turning a competitive game into something resembling Berry's pest-control demonstration.
Morgan State coach Damon Wilson acknowledged the damage done by that late first-half touchdown.
"It was a ball game, but giving up that touchdown right before halftime definitely hurt us," Wilson said in the official Morgan State recap.
Keely Watson And South Carolina State Bring The Flyswatter

While South Carolina State's defense was busy pushing Morgan State backward, Quarterback Keely Watson made sure the scoreboard kept moving in the opposite direction.
The senior completed 27 of 36 passes for 279 yards and four touchdowns without an interception.
Four different Bulldogs caught touchdown passes, and South Carolina State finished with 509 yards of offense, 30 first downs and 213 rushing yards.
The Bulldogs scored on all seven trips inside the red zone, including six touchdowns.
Berry praised his team's execution across all three phases during his postgame address.
His message about the flies wasn't simply a celebration of beating Morgan State. It was a reminder that the Bulldogs' remaining conference opponents had just watched what his team could do.
Are There Any Flies Left To Swat In The MEAC Championship Race?
South Carolina State is seeking its third consecutive MEAC championship, and Berry has yet to lose a conference game since taking over the program in 2024.
Thursday's victory extended that streak to 12 straight MEAC wins.
But the Bulldogs haven't collected their third trophy just yet.
Heading into Halloween weekend, three teams remain unbeaten in conference play:
- South Carolina State: 7-2 overall, 2-0 MEAC
- Howard: 4-4 overall, 1-0 MEAC
- North Carolina Central: 3-5 overall, 1-0 MEAC
Howard and North Carolina Central face each other Saturday, Oct. 31, meaning one of South Carolina State's closest challengers will suffer its first conference loss.
The Bulldogs then face both teams in consecutive weeks, beginning with Howard on Nov. 5 and North Carolina Central on Nov. 14.
Those games could decide whether Berry's warning becomes another MEAC championship celebration or gives somebody else an opportunity to spoil the party.
SC State Football Eyes Another Celebration Bowl
South Carolina State isn't just chasing a third consecutive MEAC championship. The Bulldogs want another trip to Atlanta.
The MEAC champion earns a berth in the Celebration Bowl against the SWAC champion, and South Carolina State is the defending HBCU national champion after beating Prairie View A&M 40-38 in four overtimes last season.
At 2-0 in MEAC play, the Bulldogs lead the conference heading into crucial matchups with Howard on Nov. 5 and North Carolina Central on Nov. 14.
Win the conference, and Berry's Bulldogs will return to Atlanta on Dec. 12 with a chance to defend their crown.
