Happy Halloweekend. I’m no fortune teller, but I follow D2 football closely. Here are five picks for Week 9, from Northern Michigan’s bid for a second straight win to the Calder City Classic.

There’s a winless team looking to get on the board, a six-game winning streak to protect and an unbeaten matchup for the GLIAC lead. Here are my five predictions for D2 football’s Halloween weekend.

Northern Michigan Picks Up Win No. 2

Northern Michigan picked up its first win of the season with a 27-10 victory over Roosevelt. The Wildcats’ defense shut out the Lakers over the final three quarters and forced three interceptions.

Now Northern Michigan gets a chance to make it two straight against Wayne State (MI), which is 0-8 and has scored just nine touchdowns this season. I think the Wildcats can get their second win.

Prediction: Northern Michigan Beats Wayne State

Pace Stays Perfect In The NE10

Pace kept its conference record perfect with a 20-19 comeback win over Franklin Pierce. Down by five with 2:07 left, the Setters drove 83 yards and Luke Porcaro found John Nasky Jr. for a 10-yard touchdown as time expired. Pace is now 4-0 in the NE10.

The Setters host Bentley, which is 2-2 in conference play and leads the NE10 in total offense. Pace has the conference’s top scoring defense. Assumption is also unbeaten in NE10 play, so a win would keep Pace near the top of the standings.

Prediction: Pace Beats Bentley

Grand Valley State Gets Back In The Win Column

Grand Valley State has lost three straight GLIAC games for the first time since 2011. The Lakers fell to No. 23 Michigan Tech in Week 6, No. 1 Ferris State in Week 7 and Saginaw Valley State in Week 8. Saginaw Valley’s 27-20 win was its first consecutive victory over Grand Valley since 1985.

The Lakers face Roosevelt, which started the season 4-0 but has lost three of its last four. Grand Valley is too talented to stay in this slump. I think the Lakers get back on track.

Prediction: Grand Valley State Beats Roosevelt

No. 21 Central Washington Wins Again

Central Washington has won six straight after close losses to FCS opponent Cal Poly and No. 1 Ferris State. The Wildcats are now 6-2 and face winless Eastern New Mexico on Saturday.

I don’t see the Greyhounds stopping Central Washington’s run. The Wildcats win, and my Halloween stays intact.

Prediction: No. 21 Central Washington Beats Eastern New Mexico

No. 1 Ferris State Wins By One Score

Last, but not least: Ferris State wins.

Unbeaten No. 1 Ferris State hosts unbeaten No. 9 Davenport in the Calder City Classic. The Bulldogs lead the GLIAC in total offense and scoring defense, while Davenport leads the conference in rushing and has one of its toughest defenses.

Davenport may be the GLIAC’s best chance to end Ferris State’s 38-game winning streak. This one could go either way, but I’m picking the Bulldogs to stay unbeaten.

Prediction: Ferris State Beats Davenport
