Patriot League Football Standings Week 8: Six Teams Separated By One Game

The Patriot League football title race is getting crowded.

No. 11 Lehigh's 24-18 loss to Villanova and No. 25 Richmond's 13-6 victory over Colgate have left the two programs tied atop the conference standings following Week 8.

And with four teams sitting just one game behind the leaders, the road to a Patriot League championship is far from settled.

Lehigh And Richmond Lead A Crowded Patriot League Race

Lehigh entered Saturday as the conference's only unbeaten team in Patriot League play, but Villanova had other plans.

The Wildcats handed the Mountain Hawks their first conference loss of the season with a 24-18 victory, while Richmond held Colgate to just six points in a 13-6 win.

Both teams now sit at 4-1, with Colgate, Georgetown, Villanova and Holy Cross all lurking at 3-2.

Six teams. One game separating them.

With the regular season entering its final stretch, there's still plenty to play for.

Georgetown Football Wins Thriller Against William & Mary

Georgetown provided another dramatic finish Saturday, defeating William & Mary 28-27 in Williamsburg.

Trailing 27-21 late in the fourth quarter, Hoyas quarterback Gavin Beard connected with Hassan Mahasin for a 10-yard touchdown with just 38 seconds remaining.

Beard finished with 265 passing yards and four touchdowns as Georgetown improved to 3-2 in conference play.

The victory keeps the Hoyas firmly in the crowded Patriot League race.

What's Next For Patriot League Football?

With Lehigh and Richmond tied atop the standings and four teams one game behind, the final weeks of the regular season could bring more movement.

The conference champion will earn an automatic bid to the 2026 FCS playoffs, while other contenders will hope to build strong enough résumés for at-large consideration.

For now, the Patriot League title remains very much up for grabs.
