Here are three Indian wrestlers to watch at the 2026 Senior World Championships.
Sujeet, 65 kg
Sujeet enters the tournament as one of India's most compelling medal contenders after winning gold at the 2026 Asian Championships in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
His continental title adds to a strong run of international results and gives him momentum heading into the Senior World Championships.
The 65 kg division is one of the tournament's deepest weight classes, but Sujeet has demonstrated that he can compete with elite opposition.
A strong performance in Astana would further establish him as a contender on the senior international stage.
Abhimanyou, 70 kg
Abhimanyou is another Indian wrestler worth following after capturing gold at the 2026 Asian Championships.
His run in Bishkek included a 6-3 semifinal victory over defending Asian champion Ernazar Akmataliev of Kyrgyzstan. Abhimanyou then won the final to secure the continental title, giving him an important result to carry into the world tournament.
The Senior World Championships will present a different challenge, with contenders from across the world competing for medals.
Abhimanyou's Asian title shows he can win against established international opposition, and Astana will offer an opportunity to prove he can do it on an even bigger stage.
Aman, 61 kg
Aman brings Olympic experience to India's lineup. He won bronze at 57 kg at the 2024 Paris Olympics, establishing himself among the world's elite lightweights.
For the 2026 Senior World Championships, Aman is entered at 61 kg, putting him in a different weight class from the one in which he earned his Olympic medal. His experience at the highest level will be valuable as he takes on a new challenge.
Aman also reached the 61 kg final at the 2026 Asian Championships, earning silver after losing to North Korea's Kwang Myong Kim.
With an Olympic medal and a recent continental final appearance on his resume, Aman is one of India's most accomplished competitors heading into Astana.
