College Hockey Rankings Update: Denver Drops After Frozen Four Rematch | October 19

The latest NCAA college hockey rankings are out from USCHO.com and the order has gone through quite a shake-up after seven ranked teams lost to unranked or lower-ranked teams.

The reigning champion No. 1 Denver Pioneers swallowed two losses on home-ice against the No. 2 Michigan Wolverines, who tallied four goals in both wins.

A couple of back-to-back games resulted in trading wins for a few ranked teams. UConn and Colorado College were one example.

Sophomore Ryder Ritchie bailed out the Terriers with less than a minute left in regulation to swing the game back into Boston University's hands and scored again in overtime to help his team leave Vermont with at least one win. They had lost the game on Friday 2-1.

Some teams still have even more work to do, though, and came out of the weekend with more disappointment than hope.

UMass took a beating from Northeastern, 4-1—maybe some payback after UMass ended their season last March in the Hockey East Tournament quarterfinal... and the score? 4-1.

Boston College took a jab, as well, losing to St. Cloud St. 5-3. Belarusian goaltender Yan Shostak put up a career-best 43 saves to help SCSU hold onto their lead late.

Then, there is Bowling Green.

After winning the Ice Breaker Tournament just last week and jumping up into the rankings, the Falcons became the prey, played two close losses at Slater Family Ice Arena in front of their own faithful and fell at the claws of the Niagara Purple Eagles.
