Here are five things to know before the Terriers and Phoenix meet.
Wofford Might Have Found Something At Furman

Wofford didn't just end a three-game losing streak last weekend. The Terriers finally showed the kind of big-play offense that could change their season.
Quarterback Ethan Drumm threw for 304 yards and four touchdowns in the 32-25 win over Furman, with three Wofford touchdowns covering at least 70 yards.
Isaiah Scott was responsible for two of them. He finished with seven catches for 193 yards and two touchdowns, recording the second-most receiving yards in a game in Wofford history.
After averaging 18.4 points across its first five games, Wofford scored a season-high 32 against Furman.
Now comes the harder part: doing it again against Elon.
Wofford's Biggest Problem Might Be No. 4

Kamerin McDowell-Moore has quickly become the centerpiece of Elon's offense.
McDowell-Moore through six games:
- 754 rushing yards
- 125.7 rushing yards per game
- 6.8 yards per carry
- 6 rushing touchdowns
The freshman is coming off his biggest performance yet, rushing for 273 yards and two touchdowns against New Hampshire. It was the most rushing yards by a freshman in Elon history and the fourth-highest single-game total in program history.
McDowell-Moore also earned CAA Offensive Player of the Week honors for the performance, his third weekly conference honor this season.
That sets up one of Saturday's biggest matchups. Wofford is allowing 164.8 rushing yards per game, giving McDowell-Moore an opportunity to keep his hot start rolling.
Wofford May Have To Win Through The Air
The Terriers' breakthrough passing performance came at a useful time because running the football against Elon hasn't worked particularly well for anyone.
The Phoenix are allowing just 90.5 rushing yards per game and 3.1 yards per carry. They've surrendered only three rushing touchdowns through six games.
Wofford, meanwhile, is averaging 96.7 rushing yards per game.
That makes Drumm's performance against Furman more than an encouraging box score. If Elon takes away the ground game Saturday, Wofford may need him and Scott to deliver again.
Elon's New Hampshire Loss Was Weird
A quick look at the box score makes Elon's 30-23 loss to CAA opponent New Hampshire difficult to explain.
The Phoenix outgained the Wildcats 464-355, rushed for 272 yards and held New Hampshire to only 54 yards on the ground.
Then look at two other numbers: four turnovers and 0-for-12 on third down.
Three interceptions and a lost fumble helped New Hampshire score 10 points off turnovers, while Elon failed to convert a single third down.
For a team that still moved the ball for 464 yards, the path to a bounce-back performance isn't particularly complicated. Elon needs to stop giving possessions away.
This Isn't Wofford's First Trip To Elon
Saturday renews a series that dates back long before Elon's move to the CAA.
The former Southern Conference rivals have played 40 times, with Wofford leading the all-time series 28-12.
Wofford vs. Elon Series History
- All-time series: Wofford leads 28-12
- Last meeting: Elon 26, Wofford 0
- Last meeting date: Sept. 10, 2022
- Previous six meetings before 2022: Wofford wins
- Saturday's occasion: Elon Homecoming
Their most recent meeting went the other way. Elon shut out Wofford 26-0 in Spartanburg in 2022, ending a six-game Terriers winning streak in the series.
This time, the setting is Elon's Homecoming.
The Phoenix are 3-0 at Rhodes Stadium this season, and Saturday is their only home game in October. Wofford arrives having just ended one losing streak and now gets a chance to spoil the Homecoming party of an old conference rival.
