Kaynan Duarte continued his dominant run through the 2026 ADCC World Championships on Sunday, submitting Daniel Schuardt in the -99kg semifinals to advance to the championship match.

Duarte secured the finish with a crossface submission, earning his third submission victory of the tournament. The reigning ADCC champion previously defeated Nico Maglicic via cloverleaf in the opening round and Javier Zaruski via katagatame in the quarterfinals.
Duarte Remains Perfect Through Three Matches
The victory kept Duarte's submission streak intact and reinforced his status as one of the tournament favorites heading into the final.
Through three matches in Krakow, Duarte has not required a judges' decision, finishing each opponent with a different submission. His semifinal win over Schuardt added another highlight to an already impressive weekend.
Schuardt entered the semifinal as one of the breakout performers of ADCC 2026 after recording submission victories over Michael Pixley and Eoghan O’Flanagan. Duarte, however, ended the Australian's run and secured his place in the championship bout.
Duarte To Face Luke Griffith For Gold
With the win, Duarte advances to the -99kg final, where he will face Luke Griffith for the division title.
The matchup pits the top seed against the No. 2 seed and gives Duarte an opportunity to add another ADCC championship to his resume.
Duarte also remains scheduled to compete in the ADCC Superfight against Yuri Simoes later in the event.

Bronze Medal Match Features Two Tournament Breakouts
Although Schuardt fell short of the final, his tournament remains one of the strongest breakout performances at ADCC 2026.
The Australian submitted both Pixley and O'Flanigan on his run to the semifinals and will now face Achilles Rocha in the bronze-medal match.
Rocha has also emerged as one of the tournament's biggest surprises after advancing through a stacked bracket that included victories over Declan Moody and Roberto "Cyborg" Abreu.
