West Alabama survived a wild fourth quarter and forced five turnovers to defeat Pittsburg State 24-23 in its 2026 home opener.

Luther Richesson completed 22 of 32 passes for 262 yards and three touchdowns, including the go-ahead 23-yard touchdown pass to TD Parker with 6:45 remaining. Parker finished with five receptions for 94 yards and two touchdowns as the Tigers improved to 3-0.

Pittsburg State had one final opportunity to win, but Kebian Gilmore intercepted Bobby Bacon on the final play to secure West Alabama's one-point victory in the first-ever meeting between the programs.

West Alabama finished with 418 total yards, including 262 passing yards and 156 rushing yards. Pittsburg State recorded 348 total yards but committed five turnovers in the loss.
