The Gulf South Conference enters the 2026 football season with a new look following another wave of conference realignment. While the league has fewer football members, the race for the conference title should be as competitive as ever.

A New Era Begins For The GSC

The Gulf South Conference enters the 2026 season with a new look after the University of West Florida departed for NCAA Division I following the 2025-26 academic year. The Argonauts joined the United Athletic Conference for football, leaving the GSC with just three football members: Delta State, Valdosta State and West Alabama. The move reshapes the conference race, making every league game even more significant while the GSC continues to navigate its future amid ongoing Division II realignment.
