Much of Western Europe is under red heat alert. France's national thermal indicator broke its all-time record on Wednesday. Paris is hot, and so is the line-up, as the Diamond League pulls into Stade Charléty on Sunday anyway - in an adapted format confirmed by the French Athletics Federation on Friday: pro programme only, later gate opening, more medical, more water, more shade.
Doha was last Friday. Marileidy Paulino erased Allyson Felix's 18-year-old meeting record in 48.91 in the women's 400m, her 2026 Diamond League season debut. Matteo Sioli, 20 years old, cleared 2.29m to upset Mutaz Essa Barshim. Pedro Pichardo opened his triple jump season with the year's world lead at 17.71m.
That was nine days ago. The season's most stacked European card runs in conditions no other meeting of 2026 has seen.

Mondo Duplantis returns to the runway. Noah Lyles and Marcell Jacobs share a 100m start line for the second time this year. Audrey Werro takes on another 800m after her 1:53.98 in Stockholm and goes for the world record. Yan Ziyi headlines a women's javelin field. Georgia Hunter Bell and Jessica Hull share a 1500m.
Here is what to watch.
The Streak, The Wedding and Duplantis Back on the Runway
Mondo Duplantis lost a pole vault competition for the first time in nearly three years on June 7, as Kurtis Marschall cleared 5.90m at the Bauhaus-Galan in Stockholm for the win.
Asked about the loss, Duplantis reached for a Swedish saying - that you are lucky in games or lucky in love. He was getting married a week later.
He skipped Oslo. He skipped Doha. Paris is the meeting that puts him back.
The field is the deepest of the season. Emmanouil Karalis, the second-highest pole vaulter in history at 6.17m indoors and 6.08m outdoors. Renaud Lavillenie - the Frenchman whose world record Duplantis broke in February 2020. Sam Kendricks, KC Lightfoot, Christopher Nilsen and Marschall will all be on the runway too.
Noah Lyles and Marcell Jacobs Meet in Paris Again
Lyles ran 9.79 in Paris to win the Olympic 100m. Jacobs finished fifth in 9.85. The two will race again and share a 100m start line for the second time this year.
The first was in Rome on June 4. Lyles ran 9.88 to win. Emmanuel Eseme (9.94), Letsile Tebogo (9.95) and Jordan Anthony (9.96) crossed the line shortly after. Jacobs finished in fifth in 9.99, a season best.
As for this round, Trayvon Bromell will be in the mix. He holds a personal best of 9.76. Ferdinand Omanyala, Akani Simbine, Anthony, Jeremiah Azu and Andre De Grasse round out a field where all entrants have run under 10 seconds in their careers.
Lyles is the Olympic champion. Jacobs is the former one. They both come back to Paris.
Werro Goes After the 800m World Record
On Sunday June 7, Audrey Werro ran 1:53.98 to win the women's 800m.
It was the third-fastest 800m in history, after Jarmila Kratochvílová's 1:53.28 world record from 1983 and Nadezhda Olizarenko's 1:53.43 from 1980. Werro became the first woman in 43 years to run under 1:54. Keely Hodgkinson settled for second in 1:54.33 - a British record.
Werro is just 22 years old and Stockholm was her first sub-1:55 ever. Since then she has also run a 1:22.85 over 600m - a European record and sixth on the all-time list. Now she will look to go even faster with the pacer expected to take the field through at world record pace.
On Sunday at Charléty, Hodgkinson will not be in the field, but Prudence Sekgodiso, the 2025 World Indoor 800m champion, is. So is Femke Broeders-Bol - the two-time reigning World 400m hurdles champion, now in her first outdoor 800m season. She opened her season in 1:57.13. Oratile Nowe, Anaïs Bourgoin and Roisin Willis are also there.
The 800m world record is the longest-standing individual record in track and field and it may finally have a new owner.
Yan Ziyi is in Search of Half a Meter More
Yan turned 18 on May 22. The next day she threw 71.74m at the Xiamen Diamond League - the second-best women's javelin throw in history, behind only Barbora Špotáková's 72.28m from September 2008. Yan's performance broke the Diamond League record, Asian record and world U20 record all at once.
She still remains the world leader.
Paris is where the field looks to catch up. Maria Andrejczyk - the Tokyo 2020 Olympic silver medalist with a 71.40m personal best - is in. Haruka Kitaguchi, the Paris 2024 Olympic champion is in, so is Sara Kolak, the Rio 2016 Olympic champion. Flor Ruiz Hurtado, Sigrid Borge, Elina Tzengko and Adriana Vilagoš complete the field.
The world record is half a meter away and there is a lot to play for.
Hunter Bell, Hull and the 1500m Field
A number of athletes have shaped Faith Kipyegon's absence in the 1500m this year. Georgia Hunter Bell is one of them. She is the 2026 World Indoor 1500m champion who took the title in Toruń in March in a British indoor record of 3:58.53. Jessica Hull is another. She took Paris 2024 Olympic silver with a 3:50.83 personal best.
Freweyni Hailu, Sarah Healy, Abbey Caldwell, Linden Hall, Agathe Guillemot, Katie Snowden, and Haregeweyni Kalayu have all run under four minutes and are also in the field.
Also Worth Watching
The women's shot put brings three of the world's deepest throwers into the same circle. Jessica Schilder, who set the Diamond League record at 21.09m. Sarah Mitton, two-time World indoor champion. Yemisi Mabry, the Paris 2024 Olympic champion. Jaida Ross, Fanny Roos and Axelina Johansson round out a field where almost everyone has thrown over 19.50m.
Quincy Hall (43.40, the sixth-fastest 400m time in history) and Matthew Hudson-Smith (European record of 43.44) headline the men's 400m, which also includes Busang Collen Kebinatshipi, who has run the second-fastest time so far this year with a 43.92. Paulino will run her second Diamond League 400m of the year.
The men's 800m brings Marco Arop, Djamel Sedjati, Mohamed Attaoui, Ben Pattison and Gabriel Tual together. While in the 5000m, Andreas Almgren is still chasing the 12:40 mark. In Oslo two weeks ago he ran 12:48.61 and finished third behind Addisu Yihune's world-leading 12:47.62. Grant Fisher is also in the field.
The men's 110m hurdles brings Jamal Britt, Trey Cunningham, Rachid Muratake, Asier Martínez and Kendrick Smallwood.
The Meeting de Paris is the eighth Diamond League of 2026. It sold out three weeks ago. The heat opens it. The track decides it.
