Chicago Wolves goaltender Amir Miftakhov was flown out to Raleigh on Thursday night, just a day before the Wolves play game one against the Toronto Marlies. He was recalled by the Carolina Hurricanes as a backup option as they pursue the Stanley Cup over the Vegas Golden Knights. On Friday, he returned back to Chicago and was listed on the projected line up.
Fans across the Hurricanes organization have been in the goalie blender as the Chicago Wolves and Carolina Hurricanes aim to secure parallel championships in the NHL and AHL for the first time since 1995 by the New Jersey Devils and Albany River Rats.
On Thursday night, just hours before the puck dropped in Raleigh on game five against the Golden Knights when the transaction for Miftakhov came through.

Russian-born Amir Miftakhov started games six and seven in the Western Conference Finals against the Colorado Eagles, helping the Wolves secure the series after Cayden Primeau was injured in game five. The rookie had a .940 SV% with 79 saves and just five goals allowed.
Miftakhov would serve as another layer of backup behind Pyotr Kochetkov should anything have happened to Brandon Bussi.

Bussi stepped into the Hurricanes' crease in the Finals and has been a superstar. He's picked up right where he left things off in the regular season.
The goalie has been rock solid for the Canes since being claimed off of waivers from the Florida Panthers at the beginning of the season. He earned his first start of the season just a few weeks later when Pyotr Kochetkov suffered a lower body injury and has never looked back, going 31-6-2 since.
Much like Bussi, Miftakhov had not started for his team since mid-April before stepping in to make an impact under immense pressure.
