The AHL Playoffs are down to the conference finals after a month-long journey whittled the field down to the Toronto Marlies, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Colorado Eagles and Chicago Wolves.
The Marlies may be the biggest surprise. The squad went 36-26 in the regular season and finished fourth in the North Division. But they beat North Division champion Laval Rocket in the division semifinals before besting Cleveland in the division finals.

Now come the Penguins. The No. 2 team from the Atlantic Division went 46-17 in the regular season and beat in-state rival Hershey 3-1 in the division semifinals before knocking off Springfield in six games.
In the West, two second-place division teams meet, ensuring no division champions reached the final four. Colorado went 41-20 and finished second in the Pacific Division, while the Chicago Wolves went 36-21 and finished second behind Grand Rapids.
Chicago beat Grand Rapids 3-1 in the division semifinals.
Like the Marlies, Colorado didn’t have a first-round bye and had to beat San Diego, Henderson and Coachella Valley to reach the conference finals.
The conference finals are the first best-of-seven series of the playoffs, and the winners will meet in the Calder Cup Final in June.
