Shericka Jackson Chats Staying Healthy And Her 22.07 Season Best in Shanghai1:18

Shericka Jackson delivered one of the biggest sprint performances of the Diamond League season, storming to victory in the women’s 200m at the Xiamen Diamond League in a meet-record 21.87.

The Jamaican star improved dramatically from the 22.07 she ran to win in Shanghai just one week earlier and looked completely in control against another world-class field.

Jackson separated herself from the race coming off the curve and powered away over the final straight, becoming the only athlete in the field under 22 seconds. The performance now places her among the fastest women in the world this season and signals that the two-time world champion is rapidly approaching peak form early in the outdoor calendar.

Shaunae Miller-Uibo also improved from last weekend’s performance, finishing second in a season-best 22.04. Anavia Battle followed in third at 22.29, while Sha’Carri Richardson placed fourth in 22.38 after another competitive showing against one of the deepest sprint fields assembled this year.

The rematch from Shanghai carried major anticipation entering Xiamen, but Jackson removed much of the suspense before the race even reached the finish line. After winning comfortably in China for the second straight weekend, the Jamaican star now leaves Xiamen with one of the fastest times in the world this season and renewed momentum heading deeper into the Diamond League schedule.
