The Walsh Cavaliers women's basketball program has some big news to celebrate.

It was recently announced that 2022 alumni Sha Carter has been named to the to the opening day roster for the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury.
The guard was a pivotal part of the Cavaliers success in the early 2020's. Carter's efforts claimed her two G-MAC player of the year accolades.
During her time as a Cavalier, Carter made her mark on the floor. In her final season, the forward posted a total of 622 points averaging roughly 18 points a game.
Carter was also a playmaker on the defensive end of the floor with a total of 14 blocks and 72 steals. On the glass, the four year Cavalier pulled in 291 rebounds in her final season of work on the floor.
The former Walsh student athletes finished her collegiate career at Florida Gulf Coast, where she played one season as a grad-transfer.
Carter is listed on the Phoenix Mercury website at 5-11 and in her rookie season. The new forward will dawn the No.20 jersey and has appeared in the Mercury's two pre-season games so far, where she has put in anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes on court.
