Game three of Kitchener Rangers vs Barrie Colts came and went in Sunday night showdown that marked a fork in the road for the two teams.

On May 10, Barrie Colts got their first chance to play host at Sadlon Arena in the OHL Championship Series finals, adding a third tough loss after the first two at "The Aud." 

Game one was all Kitchener, while game two went back and forth until Matthew Andonovsky scored the overtime game-winner that was only brought about by a last-second tying goal in the third period by Colts captain Kashawn Aitcheson. He matched that on Sunday with another buzzer-beater to tie it up with just 12 seconds remaining.

Aitcheson played about 45 minutes in game two and matched that in game three.

A win for Barrie at home could have marked a tide shift in the momentum as the Colts look to continue their underdog run to raise the J. Ross Robertson Cup.

For the Rangers a win on the road tonight meant being just one more game away from a clean sweep to the 2025-26 OHL title that they haven't earned since 2008.

Rangers Jams It In During 2OT For The Three-Game Lead

It was chaos in the crease for the Colts as the Rangers crashed the net. Edwards escorted the puck down low and into the paint where the puck bounced off the Colts defender and into the net.

After the first period of twenty minutes of bonus hockey and no goals, we're off to second overtime.

Kitchener added 10 shots while Barrie added just 5 during the first portion of extra time

More than fifteen minutes into overtime and we're still locked at 3. Kitchener has been pouring on the pressure, breaking the 40-shot mark once again.

For the second game in a row, we're off to bonus hockey. This time, we're in Barrie to see who will take game three.

It's Hrebik who has to make the first save of overtime.

KASHAWN AITCHESON DOES IT AGAIN! - It's OT!

With just 12.1 seconds remaining, Kashawn Aitcheson received the pass in the circle from Von Richter where he slammed home the tying goal in the sudden death moment to send this game to bonus hockey.

For the second game in a row, Aitcheson delivers under incredible pressure once again. Time will tell if the Colts can come out with a win this time.

Three goals within a minute and a half sends this game to overtime.

O'Reilly Finds Edwards With An Open Net - 1:12 3rd

Barrie Colts call the timeout after a huge goal from Edwards gives the lead to the visiting Kitchener Rangers.

Just a few minutes remain after the open ice created few opportunities.

All by himself, Schneid gives back the home squad a lead with a beauty of a move through three different Kitchener defenders to make it a game.

Kitchener Rebounds Just Like That - 8:59 3rd

Carson Campbell was the last one to shove it in as the Rangers crashed the goal to force the puck in past Hrebik. O'Reilly sent in the initial shot causing a flurry of rebound attempts that eventually ended up in the net. 

Emil Hemming Ties It At 1 - 9:45 3rd

Hemming extends his six-game point streak with a beauty from the faceoff dot after a slick pass from Aitcheson. It was Romano for the Rangers that was unable to clear the puck and Kirsch couldn't make the stop this time, Barrie's 22nd shot of the game and first goal.

Aitcheson hesitated for just a moment to draw in the goaltender before dishing it across to Hemming.

Crombie Goes Down Hard, Another Colts Power Play Killed Off - 10:55 3rd

Ellinas was escorted over to the box as the trainers headed onto the ice to help Crombie after a hard hit into the boards.

Colts Get The Kill - 17:30 3rd

Kitchener was threatening but tried to be a little too pretty and failed to convert to start the third.

Late Penalty Call For Hooking, Rangers Get Power Play To Start Third - End of 2nd

With just four seconds left in the period, Von Richter took a hooking call to send the Rangers on their fifth advantage of the game as Barrie's discipline continues to be a weak point tonight.

Zebeski drew a call on Andonovsky as he was taken down on a breakaway chance for the Colts' first power play of this Mother's Day game. 

The power play ended with a few chances for Kitcheners, forcing Hrebik to make three outstanding saves to keep the puck out.

Rangers Take Last-Second Lead In Opening Period Of Game 3 - End of 1st

After some brief fisticuffs along the boards, the Rangers and Colts left the ice for their locker rooms after a first twenty minutes to the game.

Barrie came out strong but it was Kitchener who hit the back of the net twice, one of which was deemed illegal.

Sam O'Reilly Nails It Off The Bench To Open Scoring - 1:03 1st

Despite two reviewed goals and a pair of power plays for the Rangers, things remained locked at zero until just over a minute remained in the period.

O'Reilly was left all alone in the circlea after coming off of the bench with all of the time in the world to beat Hrebik in the crease. Edwards took it deep behind the net to draw the defenders and create the space to make the pass out front.

It's O'Reilly's 16th goal of the postseason.

Lam Wraparound Under Review, Deemed No Goal - 3:36 1st

After the overturned goal, Colts kept Rangers away from their end without much trouble. Shots were even at 5 a piece for the moment.

Shortly after it came to a close, Tanner Lam had a shot on Hrebik that he thought was closer than the referees thought. They had a look to review the goal—it was called no goal on the ice.

And after the review, it was officially still not a goal.

O'Reilly Knocked It In On The Power Play, Goal Waved Off - 6:04 1st

The second power play of the period comes for Kitchener Rangers as Lowe's stick comes up high to catch a Rangers player in the head.

It only took 10 seconds for the puck to hit the back of the net.

After the goal was scored, they reviewed a potential high stick to the puck by Dylan Edwards as it came down off the boards and bounced down. O'Reilly earned his scoring opportunity in the resulting play.

It was called no goal after the review due to the high stick.

The penalty kill resumes!

Colts Kill Off Power Play After Aitcheson Sent To The Box - 11:36 1st

Barrie sends the puck flying over the boards in their own end to send Kitchener on their first power play of the game. Time to see how this penalty killing unit stands up to the steamrolling Rangers.

Aitcheson is guilty of tossing the puck.

No shots came until 90 seconds elapsed in the power play. Colts made the kill look very easy, a great start in front of the home crowd.
