One of Division II football’s most prolific quarterbacks is getting his shot at the next level.

Minnesota State Moorhead Football standout Jack Strand has signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent following the 2026 NFL Draft, marking the next chapter in a historic collegiate career.

Strand leaves Moorhead as arguably the greatest player in program history—and one of the most productive passers the Division II level has ever seen.

The 6-foot-5 quarterback rewrote the record books during his four-year run with the Dragons, finishing with 13,161 career passing yards and 126 touchdowns, both top-10 marks all-time in NCAA Division II history.

He also ranks ninth in DII history in passing yards per game (313.4), highlighting the consistency and explosiveness that defined his career.

Jack Strand: A Resume Built On Production And Accolades

Strand’s dominance wasn’t just statistical—it translated into sustained recognition as one of the top players in the country.

  • Two-time NSIC Offensive Player of the Year (2023, 2025)
  • Four-time All-NSIC selection
  • Eight-time All-American honoree, including five in his senior season
  • Three-time Harlon Hill Trophy finalist, finishing fourth nationally in 2025

His senior campaign was especially dominant, throwing for 42 touchdowns while once again leading the conference and cementing his place among the elite quarterbacks in Division II football.

Strand also helped lead Moorhead to three consecutive winning seasons—something the program hadn’t achieved since the 1990s.

Beyond the field, Strand built a reputation as one of the top scholar-athletes in the nation. He earned multiple Academic All-America honors and was named the CSC Academic All-America Team Member of the Year in 2025, becoming the first player in program history to do so.

He was also a finalist for the prestigious William V. Campbell Trophy, awarded annually to college football’s top scholar-athlete.

Jack Strand's Opportunity In The NFL

Despite going undrafted, Strand quickly found an NFL home—and a real opportunity.

The Falcons add him to a quarterback room that includes experienced names, giving the Division II standout a chance to compete for a depth role or practice squad spot as he makes the jump to the professional level.

Strand’s size, arm strength, and production made him a late-round draft prospect, and his signing reflects continued interest from NFL teams in high-upside players from the Division II ranks.

Strand becomes the first Minnesota State Moorhead player to sign with an NFL team since 2017, continuing a rare pipeline from the program to the league.

For Division II football, his signing is another reminder: elite talent exists well beyond the FBS spotlight. And now, one of its brightest stars gets his shot to prove it on Sundays.
