The women’s freestyle US Open finals begin at 9 p.m. ET on Friday, April 24. Below is a breakdown for each of the 10 matchups.
Every champion receives an automatic bid to Final X on Saturday, June 19, at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The winner of Final X represents the United States at the 2026 Senior World Championships on October 24 through November 1 in Manama, Bahrain.
50 kg: Erin Golston vs Katie Gomez
Golston turned 33 on April 20 and is seeking her first Senior-level World Team. She survived a tough 7-6 semifinal match against Kendra Ryan, where she won late, and will wrestle in the U.S. Open finals for the second straight year after falling to Audrey Jimenez in 2025. The Lake Hills, Illinois, native has made seven national teams, reached 2025 Final X, and has three age-level World medals.
Gomez is dropping down from 53 kg, where she won the 2023 U.S. Open. The 22-year-old is a four-time age-level World Teamer, winning Cadet gold in 2021 and U20 bronze in 2022. She spent a season at the University of the Cumberlands, finishing second to Cristelle Rodriguez at the 2025 NAIA Championships (124 pounds). Gomez won a hard-fought semifinal match against 2025 Senior World Teamer Felicity Taylor, who also dropped from 53 kg, and a 4-3 quarterfinal over two-time U17 World champion Morgan Turner.

The 32-year-old has a laundry list of credentials, including four World and two Olympic medals. This is the first time she has competed at 53 kg since winning a silver at the 2018 World Championships. The Granger, Indiana, native has good short offense and a nasty leg lace.
Rodriguez is dropping from 55 kg, where she made the 2025 Senior World Team and won the 2024 U20 World Championships. She recently completed her college career at Doane, winning three NAIA titles. The 21-year-old has a diverse range of attacks, hitting low-level shots and upper-body throws. 55 kg: Everest Leydecker vs Areana Villaescusa
Leydecker is a high school senior at Valiant College Prep in Arizona who made waves by reaching 2025 Final X as a junior. She’s wrestled well over the past year, winning the U20 World Championships and two senior international tournaments. The 18-year-old is fresh off making her second U20 World Team and winning the U23 National Championships at 57 kg. Leydecker is a good scrambler and can make in-match adjustments.
Villaescusa was in a medal match at the 2024 Senior World Championships and was close to winning bronze. She is as tough as they come, with a motor to match her intensity. The 29-year-old is part of the Army’s World Class Athlete Program and has been a consistent force for the United States for over a decade.

Martinez is back in the U.S. Open finals where she won by forfeit over Jaccara Winchester last year. The winner of this match faces 2025 World champion Helen Maroulis at Final X, a familiar foe for both Martinez and Alex Hedrick. Both have wrestled her in Final X, with Maroulis winning every series.
Hedrick returns to active competition after a short hiatus. These two know each other well, with Hedrick holding a 4-2 series edge but Martinez winning the most recent match. Both are stingy, so don’t expect this to be high-scoring.

Beck reached the 2024 World Team Trials finals and 2023 Final X, falling to Jennifer Page and Jacarra Winchester in straight matches. She has a good single and a tight gut wrench.
Nette holds a 3-1 series lead, but Beck secured a 4-4 win over Nette in the 2023 US Open semifinals before taking the title with a win over World Teamer Maya Nelson in the finals. Nette made the 2022 Senior World team and is a two-time WCWA champion.
Beck earned a tough 7-3 semifinal win over five-time NCAA champion Cam Guerin. Nette dominated her side of the bracket, including an 11-0 tech over three-time age-level World medalist Lexi Janiak.

She is one of the most disciplined and consistent wrestlers in the world, battling back from serious shoulder injuries to attain high-level success for the United States. The 25-year-old won a 2025 college national championship for the University of Iowa.
Nwachukwu broke through last season to make her first Senior World Team, knocking off two-time World silver medalist Kayla Miracle at Final X. She recently won the U23 National Championships and committed to McKendree University after winning three NAIA titles for Iowa Wesleyan and William Penn.
This is a stylistic contrast, with Kilty controlling the match from a tie and Nwachukwu exploding from space.

She hasn’t surrendered a point in three matches, and will be tough to beat in the finals.
Bruntil reached a medal match at the 2023 World Championships at 68 kg. She’s battled injuries and was out of active freestyle competition for over a year, but trained in Jiu-Jitsu. Mir is fresh off winning the 145-pound title for North Central at the inaugural NCAA Women’s Wrestling Championships. She reached the 2025 U.S. Open finals at 65 kg, where she fell to Aine Drury. Despite limited freestyle experience out of high school, Mir has made two age-level World Teams and is a three-time college All-American (5th, 2nd, 1st). The 22-year-old holds a 4-0 MMA record and is expected to compete for the UFC after wrestling.
Robinson is a 2024 U20 World champion and 2025 U23 World silver medalist, who dropped down from 72 kg. She recently made her third consecutive U20 World Team at 72 kg but didn’t place at U23 Nationals. 72 kg: Alexandria Glaude vs Precious Wieser
This is the ultimate contrast in styles. Glaude is short and powerful. Wieser is long and lean.
Glaude won the 2025 U.S. Open final with a late takedown against Grote, eventually making her first Senior World Team. The 28-year-old defeated Grote 12-1 in the semis, a sign of an upward trend for the West Sacramento, California, native.
Wieser typically competes at 76 kg, but dropped to 72 after a success at heavyweight. She reached 2019 Final X and will be a force at her new weight. The 27-year-old has good leg attacks and will need to find ways to finish against shorter opponents.

76 kg: Dymond Guilford vs Tristan Kelly
Kylie Welker is sitting in Final X, so the winner of this match faces Welker. Guilford is the favorite, but Kelly has wrestled well to reach the finals.
Guilford is a 2022 Senior World Teamer who has shown signs of brilliance in a historically deep domestic weight. Several of the top stars are absent or have shifted weights, but Guilford and Kelly have remained contenders here.
Kelly is fresh off her second 207-pound national title and was part of McKendree’s team title at the inaugural NCAA Championships. She defeated Shenita Lawson 13-2 in the semis, avenging a 2-2 loss against her at the 2026 NWCA National Duals.
