The 2026 Boston Marathon delivered rare repeat champions on both sides of the race, as John Korir and Sharon Lokedi successfully defended their titles in dominant fashion.
In the men’s race, Korir repeated as champion with another composed and decisive performance against a deep international field. He managed the key moves in the later stages and held strong through the final miles, becoming a back-to-back winner in Boston and further solidifying his place among the sport’s elite marathoners.
On the women’s side, Sharon Lokedi also went back-to-back, defending her title with another controlled and confident run. She stayed patient through the early phases before asserting herself late to secure the win and repeat as champion on one of the sport’s biggest stages.

It was also a strong day for American distance running. On the women’s side, Jess McClain (2:20:49), Annie Frisbie (2:22:00), Emily Sisson (2:22:39), and Carrie Ellwood (2:22:53) all finished inside the top 10, showing notable depth at the front of the elite field.
On the men’s side, Zouhair Talbi (5th, 2:03:45) led a group that also included strong finishes from Charles Hicks, Clayton Young, Ryan Ford, and Joe Klecker, giving the U.S. multiple top-15 performances in a deep international race. Talbi and Hicks both beat Conner Mantz's American Best all-time mark, set at Boston last year.
