Americans Competing At The 2026 Boston Marathon

As American as Apple Pie, these pros will represent the Stars and Stripes at the 2026 Boston Marathon.

The last American to win the Boston Marathon was Des Linden. In 2018, Linden won Boston in frigid (31-degree) and rainy conditions to end a 33-year title drought for American Women.

It has been eight years since that victory in Boston - but the Americans at the 2026 Boston Marathon have an opportunity to snap the streak, and take victory in Copley Square, yet again.

Conditions are currently calling for weather in the mid-40's on race-day with partly Sunny conditions. Not quite the unbearable conditions we saw during the 2018 Boston Marathon, but the conditions could still play well for the American contingent. We have our eyes on a few American men and women, who could potentially challenge on marathon Monday.

Zouhair Talbi - 2:05:45

At the Houston Marathon in January of this year, Talbi made waves when he ran 2:05:45 for the win and the fourth fastest marathon in American History.

He then ran the NYC Half in March, finishing second with a 59:41 effort. In that race, he finished second to South African Adriaan Wildschutt.

The recently-turned 31-year-old formerly ran under the Moroccan Flag, but has since transferred his allegiance to the USA. His Houston Marathon was his first running under the American banner.

In 2023, Talbi finished fifth at the Boston Marathon with a 2:08:35 running. Then in 2024, he posted a 2:06:39 to win Houston. He qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games and ran to a 35th place finish.

In 2025, Talbi only ran one marathon, finishing 11th at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon.

Jess McClain - 2:22:43

Recently, Jess McClain has been one of the best American Women on the marathon circuit.

The 2025 season saw McClain finish seventh at the Boston Marathon (Top American), fifth at the US Outdoor Championships in the 10K and eighth at the World Athletics Championships in the Marathon in Tokyo.

Her 2026 season started with some controversy after she ran off-course at the US Half Marathon Championships, but she was eventually named an honorary winner of the event and is set to represent Team USA at the World Half Marathon Championships later this year.

McClain has a ton of momentum on her side and she will be a threat on Monday.

Clayton Young - 2:07:04

Of course we have to mention Clayton Young.

Young has consistently been one of the best Americans on the Marathon circuit.

The 2024 Olympian earned a ninth place finish in the Olympic Marathon after finishing second at the Olympic Trials. He would later place seventh at the NYC Marathon in 2024.

The 2025 campaign saw Young place seventh at the Boston marathon with a 2:07:04 effort. He would go on to finish ninth at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.

Young has the experience to run with the leaders if the pace is in his wheelhouse.

Susanna Sullivan - 2:21:56

Sullivan was the Top American at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. She sniffed the podium and finished fourth at that World Championship podium. She would then cap a stellar 2025 campaign with an 11th place finish at the NYC Marathon.

Earlier in the year, Sullivan finished 10th at the London Marathon (Top American).

Sullivan seems to have a knack for consistency and that could make the difference in Boston.

This year's race will be Sullivan's first Boston Marathon since the 2021 running that saw her finish 15th.

CJ Albertson - 2:08:17

Albertson will be making his 2026 debut in Boston on Monday. The 2025 year saw an up-and-down campaign for Albertson with six marathons under legs.

He opened the year with a 34th place finish at the Houston Marathon, but bounced back in a big way with 14th place finish at the 2025 Boston Marathon. He was the fourth American in the field behind Conner Mantz, Clayton Young and Ryan Ford.

Albertson represented Team USA at the World Athletics Championships and would add a 19th place finish at the Bank of Chicago Marathon.

We're expecting a strong year out of Albertson in 2026.
