The spring sports seasons are well underway. With basketball wrapping up and the stick and ball sports headed towards post season play, the time to tune in to CAA sports is now. 

After an eventful Easter Weekend in the conference, fans will not want to miss any of the action in the upcoming weeks. 

From new coach announcements, players of the week across a variety of sports and the outdoor track and field season underway, the moments to keep an eye out for in the CAA are never-ending. 

So with a new week of sports on the horizon, here is a look at the top five things to know about the CAA and it's sports this week.

5 Things To Know About The CAA This Week

1.) The Campbell Camels Have A New Coach

That's right basketball fans, your eyes aren'y playing tricks on you. The Campbell Camels men's basketball program will have a new coach at the helm for the 2026-27 season. 

Jimmie Williams will take over as Campbell's men's basketball coach as announced by the athletic department on Apr. 8. 

Williams comes from D2 powerhouse Anderson where he had a standout 2025-26 season with a 29-3 season record and a one-seed in the NCAA DII Men's tournament. 

2.) New CAA Golfers Of The Week

Another week of golf action is concluded in the CAA and with it comes new conference golfers of the week. For the men's and women's side of the award, there are four golfers named in total. 

The menb's co-golfers of the week are Nevill Ruiter from Charleston and Ignacio Zapata of N.C A&T. These two golfers helped lead their respective teams to top results in their most recent tournaments. 

On the women's side, the co-golfers of the week are Molly Hardwick of Charleston and Regan Garnsey of William & Mary. 

These two golfers earned top-five finishes in their most recent tournaments and have consistently golfed for par or better. 

3.) Towson Men's Lacrosse Is On a Roll 

The Towson men's lacrosse team is on a roll in the current season. The Tigers are currently 3-0 in conference play and 7-3 overall. 

Currently on a five game win streak, the Tigers are set to take on Hampton on April 11. Joaquin Villagomez was named the CAA Offensive Player of the week. 

Villagomez picks up his third weekly award after a standout performance of five points over the teams 15-10 win over Monmouth. The redshirt-junior had three goals and two assists in the contest. 

4.) Outdoor Track & Field Is Finally Here

The sun is shining, the weather is attempting to be warmer and the outdoor season of track and field is underway. 

Teams were in full force on the track, but one of the most impressive performances comes from Baara Stewart from Towson. The junior claims the CAA Women's Track Athlete of the Week award after a standout performance in the Dalton Ebanks Invitational. 

Stewart reset two program records in the 800m run and the 1500m run. 

5.) Hofstra Is Cooking In Softball

The CAA softball season is still going strong and Hofstra is the team to beat, topping the CAA standings this week. 

The Pride is 14-1 in CAA play and 21-16 overall in the 2026 season. Emma Falen locked in the CAA Co-Pitcher of the Week award with 18 strikeouts through three appearances. Her 2-0 record last week comes from two-complete game shutouts over Towson. 

Ryleigh Smith also locks in Rookie of The Week with an impressive three home run weekend o=in the games against Towson.  The freshman also had six RBIs.
