The Diamond League has announced a schedule adjustment to its 2026 season, citing athlete and spectator safety as its top priority amid ongoing concerns in the Middle East.
The meet originally scheduled to take place in Doha, Qatar, on May 8 has been postponed to June 19, with organizers continuing to monitor the situation closely in the coming weeks before confirming a new competition date.

In addition to regional concerns, logistical adjustments have also led to a venue change within Qatar. The event, initially set to be hosted at Qatar Sports Club, will now take place at Khalifa International Stadium, which is a temperature-controlled facility designed to provide optimal conditions for competition during the region’s intense summer heat.
Khalifa International Stadium, best known as the host of the 2019 World Athletics Championships, offers a climate-controlled environment that ensures both athlete performance and spectator comfort, particularly during the peak temperatures of mid-June.
The meet will fall between the Bislett Games in Oslo on June 10 and the Meeting de Paris set for June 28.
The 2026 Wanda Diamond League season will now begin on May 16 in Shanghai and will still conclude with the Diamond League Final in Brussels on September 5.
Further updates are expected as the league continues to evaluate conditions and finalize details, with the goal of delivering a safe and seamless competition schedule for athletes and fans alike.
