
The 2026 Boston Marathon will bring together many of the world’s top marathon runners. Among them are the 2025 champions, Sharon Lokedi and John Korir. Lokedi also set the women’s course record last year.

Top contenders alongside Lokedi are Irine Cheptai, a former World Cross Country champion, as well as 2025 Hamburg Marathon winner Workenesh Edesa and 2025 Dubai Marathon winner Bedatu Hirpa.
Korir’s primary competition on the men’s side will be Benson Kipruto, one of the fastest marathon runners in the world, the 2024 Tokyo Marathon winner, and the bronze medalist in the marathon at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Other notable runners in the men’s field include 2024 New York City Marathon winner Abdi Nageeye and 2024 Berlin Marathon winner Milkesa Mengesha.
