USA's Masai Russell headlines the event as the reigning Olympic Champion.
Her success in Paris has quickly established her as one of the most dominant hurdlers in the world, backed by multiple U.S. titles and consistent performances on the global stage. The only competitor to survive with Russell to the Olympic finals was Deyvonne Charlton, who took sixth in the event.
While Russell owns the Olympic title, Ditaji Kambundji enters with recent momentum from the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo. The Swiss star captured gold, defeating that included several of her future Xiamen competitors. At 23 years old, she has already climbed to No. 7 on the all-time list.
No conversation about the 100m hurdles is complete without Tobi Amusan.
With a silver medal from Tokyo in 2025, and a gold medal from Eugene in 2022, Amusan has prominent World experience, but her competitive weight stands with her current World Record.
At the 2022 World Championships, Amusan set the World Record in the event in 12.12. Nearly four years later, and the record still stands, but with Russell in the No. 2 spot, it is only a matter of time before the record goes down.
With the conversation of experience, Danielle Williams stands in as the veteran with proven success. The Jamaican hurdler is a two-time World Champion (2015, 2023 and has remained a consistent factor in global finals for nearly a decade.
Sharing a similar veteran status, Deyvonne Charlton comes in as the second world record holder of the field, after tying the mark at the 2026 World Indoor Championships.
A dominant force in the 60m hurdles, Charlton will use her World Record confidence and three World Championship titles to put herself in the mix to become a champion in Xiamen.
As the third stop of the Wanda Diamond League season, Xiamen offers an early glimpse of highly competitive races in the series.
