Michigan men's hockey win the final game of the weekend that determined who would round out the 2026 Frozen Four and punch their ticket to Las Vegas over the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs.

The Albany Regional finals concluded a weekend of intense action across the country, with puck drop at 5:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, March 29.

En route to this elite round of college hockey, Michigan cleared Bentley 5-1 while UMD upset top 2026 NHL Draft prospect Gavin McKenna and Penn State, 3-1.

T.J. Hughes and the Wolverines walked out with a win, their first over Minnesota Duluth in NCAA tournament play and their 29th trip to the Frozen Four.

There were 90 seconds remaining when Gajan left his crease for the UMD bench. It wasn't enough time, though, it seemed, for the Bulldogs to find just one more goal to extend their chances for the Frozen Four.

The Bulldogs had Ivankovic sprawling all over the paint as he tried to keep Max Plante out of the net. Zam Plante tried a wrap-around as the goaltender recovered but he couldn't deliver in the final moments.

Truman, Gaffney Clean Up Trash Out Front - 3:04 3rd

Minn. Duluth 3, Michigan 4

Minnesota Duluth has made it just a one-goal game as they crashed the crease to force the puck in past Ivankovic.

It was Scott Truman who came up with the puck on edge and elevated it past the goaltender into the net.

Michigan challenged the goal for goaltender interference. After review, the officials determined that the call on the ice stands and Michigan will lose their timeout.

Bulldogs Try To Push As Time Runs Out - 4:36 3rd

Minn. Duluth 2, Michigan 4

UMD is in crunch time as they try to scrape their way back into this game and the Wolverines try to force them off the cliff.

Barnett Sits, Hanson Buries It On The Power Play - 9:27 3rd

Minn. Duluth 2, Michigan 4

Plante drew the power play driving towards Ivankovic to bring out the whistle.

UMD was 0-3 so far but Hanson made it 1-4 with a beauty lifted up high above Ivankovic and into the net.

Perron Delays, Knocks It In Past Gajan - 16:53 3rd

Minn. Duluth 1, Michigan 4

Perron was impossible to keep up with as he drove the net and sent it flying before he was able to tap the rebound in behind Gajan.

Michigan retakes their three-goal lead just minutes after the Bulldogs broke their drought.

Harper Bentz Opens Scoring For Bulldogs - 19:24 3rd

Minn. Duluth 1, Michigan 3

UMD returned to the ice with about 20 seconds remaining on the power play. They were unable to do anything with it during the advantage but just moments later it was Bentz from behind the net who scored the first goal of the game.

It's his sixth of the season.

UMD Hasn't Beaten Ivankovic, But Doesn't Let It In - End of 2nd

Minn. Duluth 0, Michigan 3

The Bulldogs have been moving with speed and forcing Ivankovic to be on top of his game to keep UMD off the board. On a positive, they didn't let Michigan score throughout the middle frame, keeping them to a three-goal lead.

They need to score on the power play though, if they're going to make the trip to Vegas. 0-3 so far.

As Minnesota Duluth looks for any gap, Truman hit the ground after taking a high hit from Schifsky with just over a minute remaining in the period.

Horcoff on the wall found Muscutt in the circle who ripped it into the pipe on a sustained onslaught by Michigan as the second period continues into the back half.

It has been all Michigan continuously as UMD looks for any solution to enter the offensive zone with the puck.

UMD Finding Rhythm Until Penalty, Kills Michigan Power Play - 11:11 2nd

After the first six minutes of the period, it seems like the Plantes + Bulldogs combo are finding some offensive success, hemming Michigan into their end for a few shifts in a row.

Max Plante was sent to the box after an unfortunate penalty for holding.

Gajan had to make two saves on the kill.

2nd Period Is Live - 20:00 2nd

Zam Plante and T.J. Hughes meet at center ice to faceoff for the middle frame. Michigan wins it this time.

Wolverines Off To Outstanding Start - End of 1st

Unsurprisingly, it's been Michigan who has started on-time tonight in the Albany Regional final as they can nearly smell the airplane ticket to Las Vegas next weekend after three goals in the first period.

17-year old Adam Valentini scored along with Will Horcoff on the tip-in and Schifsky on the shorty. It was an incredible period across the board for the maize and blue.

UMD surged late with some power play opportunities but they have yet to convert. There have been spots of brightness for the Bulldogs throughout, including Gaffney's 8-9 faceoff wins. Time will tell if both teams can keep up this pace for the entire game.

UofM goal-scorer Horcoff was sent to the box for hooking to send UMD on their second power play in a row with just a few minutes remaining in the first.

Michigan blocks came in big-time as well as UMD set up their offense to near effect.

Bulldogs have been moving the puck much better with this advantage, forcing Ivankovic to be all over the crease and making saves left and right.

Not a whole lot of good to come of the Bulldogs' man-advantage. Zam Plante sent a shot flying wide as the clock ticked down.

Schifsky With The Shorty! - 7:27 1st

After a casual drop pass by UMD on the power play, Schifsky scored his 14th of the year with a forehand-backhand five hole shot to beat the Olympian and give the Wolverines a three-goal lead.

Off the draw, Muscutt was called for interference to open the Bulldogs hopes after a dismal first half of the opening period.

Valentini Scores The One-Timer On The Power Play - 8:36 1st

Michigan extends their lead with an incredible cross-ice saucer from Moldenhauer to Valentini on the dot to sling it past Gajan for the power play goal.

Shlaine Called For Holding, Michigan On The Power Play - 10:07 1st

UMD is not letting Michigan win the physicality game so far, but Michigan has been getting most of the offensive chances.

Arnott went down the tunnel after taking a big hit by Keenan Draper.

Shlaine held Hughes to send U of M on their first power play of the game at the halfway point.

Max Plante had the first opportunity though, with a shorthanded breakout that was easily collected.

Gajan Lets One By, Horcoff Scores! - 16:55 1st

Pittsburgh Penguins' Will Horcoff scored the opening goal in a shot that squeaked by UMD netminder A. Gajan for his 25th of the season.

McKinney went low to high to create space for Robertson to send one in past Horcoff who got the deflection into the net.

Plante and Hughes met at center ice to kick off this Albany Regional final for the last spot in the Frozen Four.

UMD takes the first faceoff win.

Anderson laid out a nice reverse hit after Barnett tried to line him up drawing cheers from the Bulldogs bench.
