Italy's Zaynab Dosso Powers To 3rd Straight 60m Medal, And It's Gold

Zaynab Dosso of Italy had already tasted bronze (in 2024) and silver (in 2025) at the World Athletics Indoor Championships. There was one problem: To complete her medal set at the 2026 World Athletics Indoor Championships , she would need to beat Olympic 100m champion Julien Alfred.

Dosso was able to overcome the odds and do it, in the process becoming the first ever woman to win a complete set of World Indoor 60m medals. Check out our recap below.

Semi-Finals

The rules are the same as the men's 60mH -- eight spots, top two each heat plus next two fastest.

Heat 1

With Jamaica's Brianna Lyston, American Jacious Sears, Olympic gold medalist Julien Alfred, and 200m silver medalist Amy Hunt all in this heat, there is bound to be someone left out.

Alfred responds to an early move from Sears -- they both finish in 7.04 to auto-qualify. Lyston is in a good position to time qualify while Hunt will have to hope that nobody bests 7.10.

Heat 2

There's a clear top two in this heat, and Italy's Zaynab Dosso and Team GB's Dina Asher-Smith deliver to take the auto-Qs. Asher-Smith's 7.03 mark ties her own national record.

Hometown favorite Ewa Swoboda is under massive pressure to make this final. Jamaica's Joinelle Smith wins in a 7.03 PB, with Luxembourg's Patrizia Van Der Weken happy to take the second spot. But it's not over for Swoboda -- her 7.08 for third will take her in as the last time qualifier.

Finals

Zaynab Dosso of Italy had already tasted bronze (in 2024) and silver (in 2025) at the World Athletics Indoor Championships. But to complete her medal set, she would need to be Olympic 100m champion Julien Alfred.

She got out the best of the field, but her lead only amounted to a lean throughout the race. She kept her momentum while the field was unable to respond, giving her the World title. Sears was happy to settle for silver, just thousandths ahead of Alfred with the bronze.
