Everything You Need To Know About The United Collegiate Hockey Cup
The inaugural United Collegiate Hockey Cup will be contested this week featuring the five independent men's hockey teams in NCAA Division I.

The inaugural United Collegiate Hockey Cup is set to drop the puck near St. Louis, Mo., Thursday night. The first-of-its kind tournament will feature each of the five independent men’s college hockey programs at the NCAA Division I level playing for a postseason title.

While there is no automatic bid to the NCAA men’s hockey tournament on the line, there is an opportunity to end your season on the highest possible note – with a trophy.
The tournament begins Thursday night at Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Mo., home of the Lindenwood Lions and the St. Louis Blues’ primary practice facility.

Who Is Playing In The United Collegiate Hockey Cup?
The UCHC tournament will feature each of the five independent teams in men's college hockey at the NCAA Division I level.

- Lindenwood University
- Long Island University
- Stonehill College
When Is The United Collegiate Hockey Cup?
The UCHC will be contested in Maryland Heights, Mo., starting on March 5 with games on March 6 and the championship game played on March 7.

Thursday, March 5
- Stonehill vs. Alaska Anchorage – 3 p.m. CT
- Lindenwood vs. LIU – 7 p.m. CT
Friday, March 6
- Alaska Fairbanks vs. Stonehill/UAA – 3 p.m. CT
- Consolation Game – 7 p.m. CT
Saturday, March 7
- Third-Place Game – 3 p.m. CT
- UCHC Championship Game – 7 p.m. CT
What is the format of the United College Hockey Cup?
The UCHC tournament is a single-elimination tournament with each team seeded by order of their NPI ranking. The NPI ranking is the formula used to determine national rankings and utilized to determine the field for the NCAA tournament.
All games will be played at the Centene Community Ice Center.
The No. 1 seed receives a bye to the semifinals and will play the winner of the game between the lowest-seeded teams in the field. This year, the No. 1 seed is Alaska Fairbanks, while the bottom seeds are Stonehill and Alaska Anchorage.
Meanwhile, the second- and third-ranked teams will play a semifinal matchup on the tournament’s first day with the winner advancing to the championship game on Saturday.
The champion will be crowned via one final game between the two remaining unbeaten teams.
