Ireland Crushes England At Allianz Stadium Twickenham To Silence The Noise

Andy Farrell’s Ireland silenced the outside narrative that its a side in decline with an emphatic 41-21 win over England at Allianz Stadium Twickenham.

Racing into a 22-0 lead inside half an hour, Ireland rarely looked challenged, despite England enjoying the bulk of the possession.

Opening the account with some quick thinking from scrumhalf Jamison Gibson-Park, who caught England napping with a quick tap penalty try, Ireland’s tone was set.

Pulling the strings, out-half Jack Crowley stretched the English defense from touchline to touchline. The Munster pivot’s willingness to challenge the line and get multiple touches on the ball narrowed the English defense.

From here, Ireland exposed the hosts with wing pairing of Robert Baloucoune and replacement Tommy O’Brien each crossing the whitewash.

Crowley drilled two of the three conversions, along with a penalty, to put Ireland into what proved to be an unassailable lead.

Time and again, England launched an assault on the Irish line, only to be turned away or cough up a handling error.

It would take the hosts until the 40th minute to get their first points, when Fraser Dingwall crossed the line on the back of a sustained English onslaught.

Getting the second half off to a similar sterling note, Ireland immediately pressured England early, with captain Caelan Doris ripping through the heart of the defense.

Receiving quick ball, Stuart McCloskey charged toward the English line carrying Henry Pollock with him. The English backrow would find himself on the wrong side of the referee's whistle and was brandished with a yellow card for not rolling away.

Taking full advantage of England’s short numbers, Ireland powered over from close range through hooker Dan Sheehan to secure the four-try bonus point.

Once again dominating possession, England had ample opportunities to score, but it would take until the 53rd minute before the team could make the advantage pay.

Getting solid front-foot ball, England stretched the Irish defense, with Ollie Lawrence the benefactor. Along with the try, England earned a numbers advantage with Jamie Osborne penalized for not rolling away.

Instead of capitalizing, England once again relinquished possession far too easily.

Turning the hosts over, Ireland won a penalty through Tadhg Beirne. Adding three points to the tally, Crowley not only nailed the kicked, he helped crucial wind down the clock.

Adding an exclamation point to the result, Ireland would score a fifth try through Osborne, who powered over following some intricate Irish interplay. Setting up the opportunity, was the magnificent Baloucoune, who won the final of his three turnovers on the day.

The result catapults Ireland to second on the table ahead of Scotland’s clash with Wales in Cardiff.
