Another week of CAA conference hoops action is in the books. With the conference tournament just weeks away, here is a recap of all of the action last week!

Another week of basketball has come and gone. As the NCAA D1 action heats up as March Madness inches closer and closer, the CAA is tougher than ever. 

From huge victories to team's solidifying places in the conference tournament, the ups and downs of the conference never stops. 

With UNCW leading the way in the men's division and Charleston leading the way on the women's side, the middle of the pack is still duking it out each week for a spot in the CAA conference tournament. 

With another full week of action on the horizon, let's take a look back at what went down in the CAA last week. 

CAA Men’s Basketball

UNCW remained in first place in the CAA men’s basketball standings as conference play continued through early February, though the margin at the top tightened. Charleston stayed within striking distance, while Hofstra, Stony Brook and Drexel remained part of a crowded chase group as teams moved closer to the stretch run of league play.

CAA Men’s Players of the Week and Key Performers

Dovydas Butka, Campbell (CAA Player of the Week)

Butka anchored Campbell’s frontcourt during a productive conference stretch, delivering consistent scoring while impacting games defensively. His ability to finish inside and defend multiple positions has allowed the Camels to remain competitive in the middle of the CAA men’s basketball standings.

Preston Edmead, Hofstra (CAA Rookie of the Week)

Edmead continued to emerge as a reliable contributor for Hofstra, showing poise and scoring instincts during conference play. His offensive confidence has added balance to a Pride team pushing to stay within the top half of the league.

Beyond the weekly award winners, UNCW’s guard play has continued to provide stability at the top of the conference, while Hofstra’s recent form has kept it firmly in the CAA title conversation.

CAA Women’s Basketball

Charleston extended its unbeaten run in CAA women’s basketball, continuing to hold first place in the conference standings through the weekend. Stony Brook, Monmouth and Campbell remained tightly grouped behind the Cougars, while teams in the middle of the league continued to jockey for postseason positioning.

Grace Ezebilo, Charleston (CAA Player of the Week)

Ezebilo continued to control the paint for Charleston, providing rebounding dominance and interior stability that has fueled the Cougars’ unbeaten run through conference play.

Tamia Watkins, Elon (CAA Rookie of the Week)

Watkins has quickly established herself as a consistent interior presence, giving Elon reliable rebounding and scoring around the basket as the Phoenix navigate a competitive middle tier.

Charleston’s depth continues to separate it from the field, while Monmouth and Stony Brook remain firmly in pursuit as conference play progresses.
