All of the action from the 2026 Iowa State Dual Tournament on Feb. 7 will happen live on FloWrestling and the FloSports app. Here are the details.

While much of the country is battling the cold and snow and ice of bitter winter storms, high school wrestling teams from coast to coast are fighting for state championships in team and individual meets.
That includes Iowa, one of the most wrestling-centric places in America, where student-athletes are preparing for the upcoming Iowa High School Athletic Association State Dual Team Tournament.
The event is just the first part of what the Hawkeye State will be dishing up in February, and all of the action Feb. 7 will unfold live on FloWrestling and the FloSports app.

The 2026 IHSAA State Dual Team Wrestling Tournament will bring Iowa’s top teams together for a full day of head-to-head competition at Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa. The state meet will feature the top performers from the Feb. 3 regional dual meets.
Classifications for boys sports in Iowa are based on student enrollment for each school, with athletics being split into as many as four classes – 4A, 3A, 2A, 1A.
For wrestling, there are three classifications based on school enrollment from the previous year. The largest 64 schools compete in 3A. The next 96 schools compete in 2A. And any remaining schools make up Class 1A. Check out the breakdown for the 2025-2026 season.
The weight classes in Iowa high school wrestling are (in pounds): 106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 144, 150, 157, 165, 175, 190, 215, 285
The IHSAA also provides regular rankings, debuted in 2024, which are used to determine postseason qualifying for the dual action.
The top 24 teams in each classification from the final rankings qualify for the eight regional dual meets, and the eight winning teams move on to the state event in Coralville.
The IHSAA State Dual Team Tournament was held for the first time in 1987
The 2025 edition of the event featured one blowout and two nailbiters.
In the Class 3A final, Southeast Polk dominated Indianola, 54-14. In 2A, Algona edged West Delaware, Manchester for the win, 28-25, while the Class 1A title was decided by a single point, with Don Bosco, Gilbertville topping Alburnett, 38-37.
Southeast Polk won for the second consecutive year and seventh time overall, Algona won for the first time and Don Bosco won for a record 15th time, including 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.
It is important to note that there are separate organizations for boys and girls in Iowa, though there are a few instances of crossover or coed events in a few sports. The IHSAA began in 1904, and the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union was founded in 1925.
The State Dual Team Wrestling Tournament is one of three major postseason events in Iowa in February, but as a whole, the calendar is packed.
The boys will compete in their regional dual meets Feb. 3, the dual tournament Feb. 7 and individual district competition Feb. 14.
The agenda also includes the 2026 IGHSAU State Wrestling Tournament at Xtream Arena on Feb. 5-6 and the 2026 IHSAA State Traditional Tournament at Casey’s Center in Des Moines, Iowa, from Feb. 18-21.

When Is The 2026 IHSAA State Traditional Tournament?
The 2026 IHSAA State Traditional Tournament will take place Feb. 18-21 at Casey’s Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
The event will include the first- and second-place finishers from each weight class in the district tournaments, while the third-place competitors from Class 3A also will advance.

Did You Know: IHSAA Wrestling Is 100 Years Old
Since the debut of the Iowa State Dual Team Tournament in 1987, the list of winners includes 45 schools. Don Bosco, Gilbertville tops the list with 15 championships, followed by Assumption, Davenport with nine.
Don Bosco also leads with 30 appearances at the tournament, with 24 others schools qualifying 10 or more times.
Individually, the IHSAA has crowned 32 four-time state champions, with the first coming in 1962.
Open state tournaments were held in Iowa from 1921-1925, and the first state meet facilitated by IHSAA took place in 1926. Cheers to 100 years, Iowa!
