While the top of the D3hoops.com poll remains crowded with unbeatens, league play has introduced new pressure points across the country. This week’s slate features a mix of rising challengers, heavyweight contenders and programs looking to reset their momentum.

From coast-to-coast matchups to conference tests that could ripple through the rankings, these three games offer a snapshot of what makes Division III men’s basketball compelling at this stage of the season.
UC Santa Cruz vs. Pomona-Pitzer — Jan. 10 at 5:00 p.m. ET
UC Santa Cruz enters at 8-7 overall after a 77-70 win over Pacific Lutheran, continuing a trend of competitive nonconference play. Pomona-Pitzer sits at 5-6 overall and 1-3 in SCIAC action, coming off a 70-87 loss to Whittier.
With both teams hovering around .500, this game offers an opportunity to stabilize conference positioning. Expect a test of consistency as each side looks to string together results.
Randolph-Macon vs. Guilford — Jan. 10 at 2:00 p.m. ET
Randolph-Macon met their first loss last game against Averett (60-62). They now hold an 11-1 overall and 3-1 conference record. Still, the Yellow Jackets have established themselves as one of the most consistent teams in Division III.
Guilford enters at 6-6 overall and 0-3 in conference play after a 79-92 loss to Hampden-Sydney College. With Randolph-Macon looking to get back on track and Guilford seeking its first league win, this matchup carries urgency on both sides.
Mount Union vs. Wilmington — Jan. 10 at 12:50 p.m. ET
Mount Union continues to surge at 14-0 overall and 5-0 in conference play, most recently edging Marietta 87-72. The Purple Raiders have climbed into the national conversation with a blend of efficiency and late-game composure.
Wilmington enters at 7-6 overall and 3-1 in conference play. The Quakers enter off a 94-89 win over Capital University. With Mount Union protecting its unbeaten record, this game offers another proving ground as the conference race tightens.
