Northern Michigan men’s basketball has announced itself as the team to beat in the GLIAC.

The Wildcats enter the next phase of conference play riding a 12-game winning streak and sitting alone atop the league standings at 4-0. Northern Michigan is 13-1 overall, a record built on an explosive start that has quickly separated the Wildcats from the rest of the conference.

The lone blemish came early, an 80-67 loss to Missouri–St. Louis in the second game of the season, when Northern Michigan was still finding its rhythm. Since then, the Wildcats have been relentless, pairing efficiency with overwhelming scoring depth.

Two triple-digit performances — a 109-52 win over Marian and a 101-65 victory against Davenport — underscored the team’s ability to turn games into routs, including the largest margin of victory in program history.

Northern Michigan has dominated the stat sheet, averaging 84.6 points per game while holding opponents to just 58. The Wildcats are shooting 48.9 percent from the field, out-rebounding opponents by nearly 200 boards and outscoring them by more than 25 points per game. Dylan Keuhl, Cal Klesmit and Jackson Dudek have fueled the offense, with Keuhl emerging as a consistent catalyst.

The Wildcats’ momentum continued in a 72-60 road win over Grand Valley State, where they controlled both halves. Keuhl scored 25 points, coming one game after a 33-point performance.

That early-season surge now sets the stage for a pivotal test. Northern Michigan travels to Houghton on Jan. 8 to face No. 2 Michigan Tech, a matchup that will further define the Wildcats’ conference trajectory.
