Five weeks into the NCAA Division I men’s basketball season, and the pressure is already on.
The CAA men’s basketball standings are beginning to take shape, with UNCW (7-1) at the top and William & Mary close behind at 7-2. Although conference play doesn’t begin until Dec. 29, these early games give teams the chance to build on-court synergy.

Early-season standouts might just continue their reign into conference play.
Here are three must-watch CAA men’s games this week as the season continues to heat up:
Furman vs. Elon - Dec. 3, 7 p.m. ET
Elon hosts Furman at Schar Center in a matchup between two teams with four wins apiece. Furman enters after competing in the Terry’s Chocolate Invitational, where the Paladins fell 72-65 to Illinois State. Elon is also looking to rebound from an 91-84 loss to Mercer, and both teams hope to get back on the winning side.
Marshall vs. UNCW - Dec. 3, 7 p.m. ET
UNC Wilmington welcomes Marshall to Trask Coliseum after sweeping the Live Oak Bank Holiday Classic. The Seahawks’ Feast Week success pushed their record to 7-1. Marshall, despite a 90-67 loss to Lipscomb, has enjoyed a strong start at 5-2. Expect a fierce battle between these two early-season standouts.
Princeton vs. Monmouth - Dec. 3, 8 p.m. ET
Monmouth sits ninth in the CAA standings and is looking for a win to climb higher. The Hawks welcome Princeton to West Long Branch, N.J., eager to take advantage of their home court. With a 3-7 record and a recent 60-58 loss to Saint Joseph’s, Princeton appears to be in a slump—and Monmouth is ready to pounce.
