Elon men’s soccer made history on Sunday afternoon at Rudd Field, using two first-half goals to fuel a 3–0 win over Stony Brook and secure the program’s first CAA Men’s Soccer Championship.

Phoenix standout Martin Kozak was named the Tournament’s Most Outstanding Performer after a dominant postseason run, tallying eight points on two goals and four assists. His semifinal performance against Campbell—one goal and four assists—set a new single-game program record for points.

In goal, Jackson Leavitt delivered three saves to notch his program-best 11th clean sheet of the season. Stony Brook’s Heidar Hermannsson countered with five stops, as Elon finished with a 10–6 edge in shots.

The breakthrough came just 10 minutes in. A soaring Leavitt save sparked a sustained spell of Phoenix pressure, eventually forcing a Seawolves own goal off a dangerous in-swinging corner from Joe Taylor.

Head coach Marc Reeves made a decisive move in the 28th minute, bringing on forward Einar Ness—and the junior made an immediate impact. Just 56 seconds after entering, Ness headed in a pinpoint cross from Weston Jonke to double the lead. The goal was Ness’s second of the year, while Jonke picked up his second assist of the campaign.

Both sides had chances after the break, but Elon delivered the dagger in the 88th minute. Dominik Renz surged forward from midfield and slipped the ball to Kozak, who calmly chipped Hermannsson for his fifth goal of the year, cementing the 3–0 final.

With the win, Elon earns the CAA’s automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. The Phoenix will learn their destination during Monday afternoon’s Selection Show.
