Investec Champions Cup Countdown: Why Toulouse Can Win No. 7
Investec Champions Cup Countdown: Why Toulouse Can Win No. 7
The Investec Champions Cup is one day away, and FloRugby is making a case for each team to win it all. That includes the best Champions Cup club, Toulouse.

The 2025-2026 Investec Champions Cup begins Dec. 5, and we're just one day away from the Sale Sharks hosting the Glasgow Warriors at 3 p.m. ET at CorpAcq Stadium.
The Investec Champions Cup will determine the best team in Europe (and South Africa), as every contender aims to take the title from defending champion Union Bordeaux-Bègles of the Top 14.

But like in the film "The Highlander," there can only be one winner.
Every club will enter the competition believing it can lift the trophy on May 23, 2026, at San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao, Spain.
And that includes Stade Toulousain, or Toulouse, of the Top 14.
Here are three reasons why Stade Toulousain can win the 2025-2026 Investec Champions Cup:
Toulouse Is The Easiest Bet In All Of Professional Rugby
The Yankees of professional rugby: Toulouse.
Yes. The easiest pick to win the Champions Cup is often Toulouse.
- Toulouse has won six of the 30 Investec Champions Cups — the most.
- Toulouse has been to eight finals.
- Toulouse won the first final in 1996.
The accolades are astounding.
Toulouse has 24 Top 14 titles and seven runner-up finishes. Toulouse has won three straight Top 14 titles and has won four of the last five.
The organization employs Antoine Dupont, who will make his return at some point over the next month.
The team has the best French nationals on the roster and star players from England and Scotland on the team — it's one of the most stacked teams in the world.
In 2024, rugby fans got a Toulouse–Leinster final. Mathematically, that is the final most likely to happen every year. And, mathematically, Toulouse likely wins.
Antoine Dupont Will Have Comeback For The Ages
FloRugby watched Ardie Savea have one of the greatest seasons ever for a player — for the All Blacks and Moana Pasifika in Super Rugby — and rightfully moved him to the No. 1 player spot. But it was difficult moving Dupont off No. 1 and dropping him to No. 2.
The torn ACL definitely factored into the choice, and before the injury, Dupont was cementing his case as the best player in the world with standout performances against the All Blacks and then in the Six Nations before the injury.
Athletes like Dupont seem to find a way to bounce back from injuries like this and regain form, and that’s what I’m expecting from him.
How great is Toulouse, though?
Well, without the world’s best playmaker, Toulouse still won the Top 14 title and made the Champions Cup semifinals.
Why? Because here are all the FloRugby Top 100 players who play for Toulouse:
- Antoine Dupont | Stade Toulousain | France (No. 2)
- Thomas Ramos | Stade Toulousain | France (No. 21)
- Juan Cruz Mallía | Stade Toulousain | Argentina (No. 24)
- Peato Mauvaka | Stade Toulousain | France (No. 30)
- Blair Kinghorn | Stade Toulousain | Scotland (No. 31)
- Romain Ntamack | Stade Toulousain | France (No. 42)
- Ange Capuozzo | Stade Toulousain | Italy (No. 49)
- François Cros | Stade Toulousain | France (No. 57)
- Santiago Chocobares | Stade Toulousain | Argentina (No. 80)
- Thibaud Flament | Stade Toulousain | France (No. 84)
- Cyril Baille | Stade Toulousain | France (No. 99)
That's seven in the top 50 alone.
Yes. Toulouse’s Stadium, Stade Ernest-Wallon, Also Has a Restaurant
If playing one of the best teams in the world wasn’t enough, the Hollywoodbets Sharks and the Sale Sharks will have to resist the natural urge of a feeding frenzy before the match because Stade Ernest-Wallon — like a lot of French stadiums — definitely has a fancy restaurant.
The Brasserie du Stade Toulousain has a menu that changes constantly.
In November, stuffed cabbage with pork, foie gras and truffle was on the menu. And the dessert was something called the “Cross Passes,” which is some sort of strawberry–mint dish. Unbelievable.
A “Simmental ribeye steak with black mushroom and bone marrow jus”? Sign me, Eben Etzebeth, Ox Nche and the rest of the lads up.
Bonus: Toulouse vs. Saracens Is Going To Be A Must-Watch Match
I don't know how this helps Toulouse's case to win it all other than if the squad can go to Saracens in January and beat the Sarries, and then go into Glasgow in December and win, Toulouse will win it all.
