McMurry erased a 12-point deficit to defeat Texas Lutheran 27-19 in the 2025 SCAC Football Championship to claim the conference crown. Relive the action!

In one quarter, Texas Lutheran’s title hopes vanished as McMurry stormed back to steal the SCAC crown.

Top-seeded Texas Lutheran looked poised to win the Nov. 15, 2025 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship in Little Rock. But second-seeded McMurry roared back from a 7-19 deficit with 20 unanswered points to secure the championship title. 

Texas Lutheran entered the matchup at 6-3 overall and undefeated in conference play (5-0), while McMurry came in at 5-4 and 4-1 in league competition, fresh off a dramatic comeback win over Hendrix.

Just two weeks earlier, the Bulldogs had dominated McMurry 42–13, controlling possession and outgaining the War Hawks in nearly every category. 

Early in the championship game, it looked as if Texas Lutheran might repeat that performance—taking a 19–7 lead after a strong first half and an early fourth-quarter touchdown from Kibreante Williams. But McMurry, true to its resilient form, flipped the script with an electrifying comeback.

Tedrick Williams sparked the surge with a rushing touchdown, followed by a fumble recovery in the end zone from Bryce Neves to put McMurry ahead. Moments later, Dylon Davis came in clutch with an interception. War Hawks held off Texas Lutheran’s final drive.

McMurry claimed a 27–19 victory, capping a remarkable turnaround.

Deitrick fumbles off the snap sending both McMurry and Texas Lutheran scurrying for the ball. McMurry ultimately wins the footrace as Bryce Neves recovers the ball to end Texas Lutheran's drive.

After a quick McMurry timeout, the War Hawks run the clock with a kneel down by Dylan Plake, ending an electric fourth quarter come back.

Just like that, McMurry wins the game.

Texas Lutheran and McMurray, first and second in the SCAC standings, will play for the SCAC Football Championship title. The match takes place on Nov. 15 at 9 p.m. ET.
