Toulon Dominates Back-To-Back Wins, Climbs To No. 2 | Top 14 Club Spotlight

Toulon is back in the win column — and making a statement.
After a tough rivalry loss to Toulouse, the Rouge et Noir were cast as the mighty underdogs.
Now, the two sides find themselves neck and neck once again — not on the pitch, but at the top of the Top 14 table.
Toulon’s response has been nothing short of dominant.
Toulon bulldozed Lyon 54-21, then dismantled La Rochelle 39-14 in back-to-back performances, catapulting themselves into second place in this week’s rankings.

In their Nov. 1 showdown at Stade Mayol, Lyon drew first blood with a penalty goal — but Toulon’s reply was thunderous.
Once Toulon found its rhythm, the talented squad never looked back, controlling the final 77 minutes of play and running in eight tries to Lyon’s two.
Their precision and power were unmatched: 66% of Toulon’s mauls gained ground within the 0-3 meter range, showcasing a relentless ability to recycle the ball and create scoring opportunities. Even defensively, Toulon outworked Lyon, making 129 tackles to Lyon’s 108.
Toulon's rescheduled Week 3 clash against La Rochelle, postponed earlier due to severe flooding, proved worth the wait.
Toulon finally settled the score Nov. 8 with standout performances across the board.
Esteban Abadie led all players in carries (13), Mathis Ferte in line breaks (three) and captain Charles Ollivon in tackles completed (16). The extra weeks only sharpened Toulon’s edge, and the group took full advantage.
At this stage of the season, Toulon’s only setbacks have come against Bayonne, Clermont Auvergne and Toulouse — all top-tier opponents. Every other match has been a testament to Toulon's grit, cohesion and attacking flair.
Now sitting comfortably in the No. 2 spot, Toulon looks ahead to another challenge — a marquee matchup against Stade Francais. If recent form is any indication, the giants from the south are just getting started.
