The 2025-2026 Investec Champions Cup begins Dec. 5, and we're just 19 days away from the Sale Sharks hosting the Glasgow Warriors at 3 p.m. ET at CorpAcq Stadium.

The Investec Champions Cup will determine the best team in Europe (and South Africa), as every contender aims to take the title from defending champion Union Bordeaux-Bègles of the Top 14.

But like in the film "The Highlander," there can only be one winner. 

Every club will enter the competition believing it can lift the trophy on May 23, 2026, at San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao, Spain.

And that includes Gloucester Rugby of Gallagher PREM Rugby. 

Here are three reasons why Gloucester Rugby can win the 2025-2026 Investec Champions Cup:

Gloucester Rugby = Cherry & Whites

Nicknames are all over the place in the world of rugby. 

There are All Blacks, Springboks, Los Pumas, Brave Blossoms, Roses - and in club rugby, we have nicknames in place of city names in some cases. 

Gloucester, a club that was founded in 1873, is the Cherry & Whites. 

That nickname may not strike fear in the hearts of clubs, nor power the lads from Kingsholm Stadium to the Champions Cup title, but it does signal the history this club has and the legends like Ludovic Mercier, who wore the Cherry & Whites.

The Reigning PREM Rugby Player Of The Season, Tomos Williams, Wears Cherry & White

This may be the last year Tomos Williams, a 30-year-old Welsh Rugby star, wears the Cherry & Whites kit. 

The No. 61-ranked player at FloRugby signed a two-year contract with Gloucester after a decade with Cardiff. 

Gloucester is preparing to make Williams the highest paid player on the team after he won PREM Rugby Player of the Season and was a member of the British and Irish Lions this summer before getting hurt. 

Gloucester Rugby Could Follow The 2024-2025 Northampton Saints Path

Gloucester is 0-0-5 so far in Gallagher PREM Rugby play. 

That's not great. 

But last year, the Northampton Saints really struggled in PREM season before entering the Champions Cup. The Saints beat Leinster Rugby, the biggest upset in club rugby last season, and reached the Investec Champions Cup Final. 

The Saints were on the verge of finishing outside the top 8 of the PREM table but snuck in at No. 8. 

So, Gloucester Rugby isn't coming off a PREM championship like that Saints team, but Gloucester does have some tournament experience after having reached the EPCR Challenge Cup Final in 2024. 

Gloucester not only has Williams, but Ben Loader, 26, joined the team this offseason after playing for the DHL Stormers from 2023-2025.
