Week 10 of NCAA college football is quickly approaching and with the FloCollege D2 rankings out to the public, there is a lot to be learned from how the Top 25 stack up.

It is insane to think that there are just a few short weeks until the NCAA D2 playoff field is announced on Selection Sunday. The D2 rankings have held weight all season but as the final weeks get closer, where a team is ranked could be a make or break with a playoff seat.

Week 9 was a little more tame in regards to total chaos, but it is still D2 football and chaos always seems to find a way in even when things are going as planned.

This week’s Top-25 are officially out to the public as of Nov. 3, so let’s try and make some sense of these rankings. Here is everything to know about the FloCollege Top-25 this week.

The Top 4: Are They Ever Going To Change? Not Likely.

In the world of rankings in any sport, consistency is hard to find. Yet, in these D2 rankings the top-four teams have not changed no matter the chaos that has been thrown in their direction.

The top-spot has not changed since the preseason and it would not surprise anyone if a repeat national title is on the horizon for Ferris State. The Bulldogs are 9-0 on the season and have absolutely obliterated their competition in the 2025 season. With the closest contest of the season being the Anchor-Bone Classic, Ferris State is in the driver’s seat for D2 football.

Spot number two finds Harding still knocking on the back door of the Ferris State estate. Credit where credit is due to the Bison. It is extremely hard to keep an undefeated season alive and this team has done so for nine weeks now. The GAC conference winner by a long-shot will find a home in the NCAA playoff battle in just two short weeks.

In the third spot for yet another week, Kutztown stays in the top-four of these FloCollege rankings. Another one of those teams left undefeated in the 2025 season. The 9-0 Golden Bears should be the outright winner of the PSAC East and will head into the final game of conference play on Nov. 8.

Rounding out the top four in these FloCollege rankings is another one of those teams who is still somehow undefeated after nine weeks of football. The West Florida Argonauts are moving and grooving right along in the Gulf South. As the Argos prepare to take a well-deserved bye in Week 10, the NCAA D2 playoffs will see West Florida as a contender.

The top-four are going to house the only sense of consistency amongst these D2 rankings so it goes without saying that even though a team is ranked in the top-four, one slip up could detonate an atom bomb in the next week’s rankings.

5-10: The Usual Suspects With A Little Change

Extending the next grouping of rankings out by one position because for once, the top-five spots were not the same. So spots five through ten are the next culprits to deep dive.

Spot five which has normally been occupied by Western Colorado in the previous weeks, now sees fellow RMAC contender CSU Pueblo up one spot after being previously ranked sixth. The 8-1 Thunderwolves are tied on top of the RMAC standings heading into Week 9.

The sixth spot in these D2 rankings sees an LSC team who has been all gas and no brakes in the 2025 season. The Central Washington Wildcats find themselves up one spot in the rankings after picking up a conference win over Angelo State on Nov. 1.

Virginia Union takes a quick hop up one spot to claim No. 7 in the rankings. The Panthers are currently undefeated in CIAA play at 6-0 and hold an 8-1 season record. Virginia Union will play its last regular season game on Nov. 8.

The eighth spot sees Indianapolis up one spot after being previously ranked ninth. The Greyhounds are fighting tooth and nail to stay in the top-ten each week and are reaping the rewards as they sit 8-1 on the season and 6-0 in GLVC play.

The ninth spot holds Augustana (SD), who is up one spot after being previously ranked tenth. The Vikings are 9-0 on the season and 8-0 in NSIC play. Augustana looks to stay in the top-ten in the last two weeks of the regular season.

Rounding out the top-ten is the first drop in the FloCollege rankings as Western Colorado plummets from fifth to tenth. The Mountaineers fell five spots after picking up their first loss of the 2025 season to now-ranked fifth CSU Pueblo, 24-21. With the loss, the Mountaineers will look to get back on track on Nov. 8. against Chadron State.

Spots 11-20: Is It Finally Settling In? Probably Not, But Here’s A Look

Here it is, the middle of the pack, the teams trying to stay out of the bottom five spots in the FloCollege rankings or claw their way into the top spots. While it is normally a cluster of who is getting placed into these nine spots most weeks, these specific rankings seem a lot calmer than usual.

Spot 11 sees a pretty big jump as the Findlay Oilers continue to assert their dominance in D2 football. As another one of the rare undefeated teams, the Oilers are 9-0 on the season and 7-0 in G-MAC play. As Findlay prepares to take on Ashland in Week 10, the Oilers are looking to break into the top-ten before the final week of the regular season.

The 12th and 13th spots took a quick flip-flop from last week’s rankings as Minnesota Duluth climbed into the 12th spot, while Pittsburg State fell to 13th. Minnesota Duluth jumps up the spot after picking up a win over University of Jameson, 45-29. Pittsburg State takes a small fall after taking a 20-point victory over Missouri Southern, 30-10.

Spot 14 houses the only consistency amongst spots 5-20, as Northwest Missouri State holds up at 14 for yet another week. The 8-1 Bearcats are rolling through a perfect MIAA conference run currently sitting 7-0. Northwest Missouri State will be back at home to battle Missouri Western for the Bearcats senior day.

Minnesota State takes a tiny climb from 16th to 15th in the rankings. The 7-2 Mavericks are rounding out the final weeks of NSIC play. Currently 6-2 in the conference, the Mavericks will hit the road to take on Augustanna on Nov. 8.

Spot 16 sees another semi-major climb as Ashland jumps up three spots from 19. The Eagles are 8-1 on the season and 7-0 in conference play. Ashland successfully jumps after securing a win over Walsh, 23-16.

The 17th spot in the D2 rankings sees one of the biggest drops in the rankings this week as Delta State drops six spots from 11. The Statesmen took a tumble after picking up their second loss of the 2025 season and moving to .500 in Gulf South play. After suffering a 51-38 loss against West Florida, Delta State will hit the road to take on Valdosta State on Nov. 8.

Michigan Tech is on the move in this new week of rankings. The Huskies have broken into the Top-20 and sit comfortably at 19 for the new week.  After picking up a 56-31 victory over Roosevelt in Week 9, Michigan Tech heads to Allendale, Mich. to take on Grand Valley State

Coming in at 20, the UT Permian Basin Falcons are not only the second LSC school in the Top-25 but also have found some more stable real-estate inside the Top-20. The 7-2 Falcons took care of business in Week 9, destroying Western New Mexico, 66-7. UTPB is back at home on Nov. 8 to take on Eastern New Mexico

The Top-20 is still technically anyone’s home but as the playoffs creep closer, teams need to find a spot towards the top half of this list for a viable chance at a spot in the playoff conversation.

Just In Or Just Out: The Most Unstable Real Estate In Top-25

Just five spots left to talk about in this D2 chat, and these last five spots truly are the most unstable in any rankings. To be in the Top-25 is an honor but it is always a privilege, one slip up and teams can fall out just as quickly as they were there. This week is no exception.

Spot 21 sees newcomers to the Top-25 as Albany State finds a home at 21st. The Golden Rams are 8-1 on the season and 7-0 in SIAC play. The Golden Rams have played good quality football up to this point and have picked up some gutsy wins. After a 21-18 victory over Savannah State, the Golden Rams will square off against Fort Valley State for the Fountain City Classic

The 22nd spot in the rankings also sees a new face as Johnson C. Smith enters the conversation to be one of the Top-25 in D2 football. A 5-1 CIAA team, the Golden Bulls will take on Livingstone College on Nov. 8.

The 23rd spot finds not a new face in the D2 rankings, but a school that has struggled after a hot start in the 2025 season. The Angelo State Rams after being previously-ranked 18th fall to the bottom spots of the rankings after a loss to Central Washington on Nov.1. The Rams will be back in San Angelo to host Western Oregon on Nov. 8.

Spot 24 keeps the same tenant as Grand Valley State holds on for yet another week in the Top-25. The 5-3 Lakers picked up a much-needed win over Wayne State in Week 9. Grand Valley State will head back to Lubbers Stadium in Week 10 to host Michigan Tech.

Last but certainly not least and quite a coincidence after speaking about fellow conference foe above, Western Oregon rounds the Top-25. The Wolves make the fourth LSC team in the top 25 and have had great success in the past week of conference play. Western Oregon is 7-2 on the season and 6-1 in LSC play.
