Wayne State enters 2025–26 with momentum and continuity under head coach Bryan Smothers, who begins his fourth season leading the program. The Warriors were picked seventh in the GLIAC preseason poll after consecutive conference tournament appearances.

Forward Carlos Paul III, a Preseason Second Team selection, headlines the roster after averaging double figures and earning All-GLIAC honors last season. Senior guard Kelvin Tamakloe and junior Jordan Briggs return as reliable contributors in Smothers’ balanced system.

Wayne State’s focus remains on defensive toughness and execution. The Warriors return five key veterans and add eight newcomers, including six transfers expected to make an immediate impact.

With Smothers continuing to shape the program’s culture, Wayne State’s combination of experience and depth positions the team to compete in the upper half of the conference standings this winter.
