Juniata Volleyball Eyes Landmark Title After Historic Streak
Juniata Volleyball Eyes Landmark Title After Historic Streak
After a 100-game win streak and two rare losses, Juniata volleyball aims to defend its Landmark crown and chase another NCAA DIII championship run.

With two weeks until the Landmark Conference postseason tournament, all eyes are on Juniata.
The Eagles are undefeated in conference play and sit comfortably at the top of the Landmark standings. Juniata also holds the No. 5 spot in the NCAA Division III women’s volleyball rankings.
In recent years, Juniata has been unstoppable, even earning its third consecutive DIII women’s volleyball championship title last year. This season, the team celebrated a 100-game winning streak that began on Sept. 16, 2022.

Flying high, the season brought a few road bumps, making Juniata’s run even more captivating. In week three, Juniata faced a 2–3 loss to Wittenberg and a 1–3 loss to Johns Hopkins the following week.
A streak as hefty as 100 wins puts incredible pressure on current players to continue the legacy of their predecessors. No team can stay perfect forever, and the losses relieved pent-up nerves before the thick of title contention.
With two losses behind them, the current lineup has regrouped and made its mark, now sporting a 13-game winning streak and a 23–2 overall record.
Key Conference Benchmark Against Scranton
In conference play, Juniata hasn’t dropped a match, boasting a 9–0 conference record. Scranton follows with a 6–1 record, though the gap widens with Scranton’s 17–9 overall mark.
Juniata and Scranton met on Oct. 4, ending in a 3–2 road victory for the Eagles. Scranton held its own; however, statistically, Juniata outperformed with 85 points to Scranton’s 59.
The matchup will likely preview the Landmark Conference championship game. Juniata’s recent and historic dominance is certainly on their side. Not only did they outscore Scranton by 26 points in their last meeting, but the Wolves also recently suffered a loss to Virginia Wesleyan, which could dent their confidence entering postseason play.
Why This Season Stands Out
For once, Juniata enters as an underdog. They’ve had a few stumbles, but they’re far from out of national contention. Within the conference, Juniata has proven itself against the teams it must dominate to claim another postseason title.
Juniata’s lineup is young. The top three scorers from last year’s NCAA championship final — Mackenzie Coley, Kennedy Christy, Lily Podolan and Olivia Foley — are no longer on the roster. In fact, only three of Juniata’s 21 players are seniors. The group is developing team chemistry that will sustain the program for years to come. This is the beginning of a new era, not the end of one.
Closing Out the Season With Non-Conference Matches
Juniata wrapped up conference play with a 3–0 shutout over Wilkes on Saturday, Oct. 25. Every conference matchup resulted in a 3–0 victory, except the 3–2 win against Scranton.
The Eagles will now face off against some ranked contenders, including No. 3 Wisconsin-Oshkosh and No. 6 Illinois Wesleyan, to close out their season. These matches will keep the team sharp heading into the conference tournament. Any challenge in the final stretch will only prepare them further.
