Monmouth Capitalizes On Offense To Claim Victory Over Stony Brook
The Monmouth Hawks capitalized on offense all game to secure a CAA victory over Stony Brook. Relive all of the action in the recap!
The Monmouth Hawks capitalized on offensive momentum all game to secure a massive 49-21 victory over the Stony Brook Seawolves on Oct. 18.
Action got started early with both teams scoring at least once in each quarter, barring Stony Brook who could not find the end zone in the final quarter. In the offensive back-and-forth battle, most of the game was within one or two possessions and the Hawks did not start to pull away until late in the third quarter.
The Hawks end the game with 415 total yards of offense. Quarterback Derek Robertson was 19-for-29 on pass completion with 204 yards and three touchdown tosses. Rodney Nelson was the leading rusher for Monmouth with 141 yards on 20 carries with two touchdowns.
The Seawolves ended the game with 423 yards of offense. Quarterback Chris Zellous was 13-for-22 on pass completion with 103 yards. Zellous also had one rushing touchdown for Stony Brook. Roland Dempster was a leading rusher for the Seawolves with 92 yards on 19 carries and one rushing touchdown.
With the victory, the Hawks move to 6-1 on the season and 3-0 in CAA play. Monmouth will head on the road to take on Hampton on Oct. 25.
Stony Brook moves to 3-4 on the season and 1-2 in CAA play. The Seawolves will return home on Oct. 25 to host Towson.
