Sacred Heart Off To Strong Start, Pair Of Teams Prepare For AHA Opener
Sacred Heart is off to a 2-0 start for the first time since the 1996-97 season and is coming off a conference-opening sweep at RIT.

It’s another busy weekend in Atlantic Hockey, as 13 games decorate the schedule from Thursday through Tuesday – including seven on Saturday.
Another pair of teams will dive into conference action on Saturday, while Sacred Heart will look to build off a season-opening sweep over RIT.
Here’s what fans can watch for this weekend in AHA men’s hockey.
Sacred Heart's Strong Start
Sacred Heart got off to a 2-0 start in conference play last weekend as the Pioneers earned a pair of wins at RIT. Ajeet Gundarah led SHU to a 1-0 win on Friday and the Pioneers followed it up with a 6-1 win in the finale.
Junior forward Stephane Huard scored the lone goal in Game 1 and had a goal and assist on Saturday, while Felix Trudeau also had three points (1-2-3) in the series. Huard is in his first NCAA season after spending two years at McGill University (USports). The Quebec native was named the AHA Forward of the Week on Tuesday.
The Pioneers were out-shot 50-46 in the series but received 49 saves from Gundarah. Friday’s win was the fourth shutout of the sophomore’s career, and he also helped his club finish the weekend a perfect 8-for-8 on the penalty kill.
Sacred Heart is off to a 2-0 start for the first time since the 1996-97 season and received 19 votes in this week’s USCHO Poll. C.J. Marottolo's club will host Stonehill on Saturday.

Lakers, Crusaders To Battle In Lone AHA Contest
Mercyhurst (0-4-0) and Holy Cross (0-3-0) are both searching for their first win of the season, and they’ll have an opportunity to earn it in conference play.
Holy Cross was swept by No. 6 Maine last weekend, falling 5-2 and 6-0 in the series. Holy Cross has been out-scored 17-6 this season and has seen goals from six different skaters, including AHA Preseason Player of the Year Jack Stockfish. The Crusaders were 9-5-1 in road games last winter and 19-5-2 in conference play.

Mercyhurst will also look to respond from a rough start and has struggled to keep the puck out of its net. The Lakers were swept at Michigan to open the season, falling 11-1 and 7-0, and were handed a pair of home losses last weekend by Union – 5-2- and 5-3. The 28 goals against are the nation’s most – 10 more than the next closest teams.
The Lakers won their AHA opener a year ago against RIT, but finished 4-19-3 in conference play. Saturday’s game is set for a 3 p.m. EDT faceoff in Erie and will be available here on FloHockey.
Holy Cross will be in action on Tuesday as well, as the Crusaders host No. 10 Quinnipiac.
